Years 9 & 10

Years 9 and 10 play a crucial phase where students delve into a more specialised and exploratory curriculum.

With a focus on academic rigor and holistic development, we aim to empower students during these foundational years before heading into Years 11 and 12. Our dedicated educators guide students through a diverse range of subjects, fostering critical thinking, independence, and a deeper understanding of their academic interests.

Beyond the classroom, Years 9 and 10 provide opportunities for students to engage in extracurricular activities, leadership roles, and personal growth initiatives.

For Junior Secondary's Year 9, the College curriculum includes English, Maths, History, Science, Business, Art, French, Drama, STEM, Civics and Physical Education that provides a holistic grounding for Senior Secondary education.

Senior Secondary's Year 10 is the foundation year for senior schooling. The focus is on developing an individual career SET plan to assist with decision making for subject selection at senior level. Certificate courses and TAFE options (which may include work experience, school-based traineeships and apprenticeships) are explored as part of the College’s program.

Year 10 School-Based Traineeships/Apprenticeships

Tamborine Mountain College offers school-based traineeship and apprenticeship opportunities to selected students through the school-based traineeship program.

The objective of the program is to assist students, whilst at school, to develop skills in a workplace setting, receive nationally accredited training and a qualification that will set them up for job opportunities and a career path after their schooling is complete.

Students are able to achieve a Certificate level in their chosen industry whilst working part time as well as completing their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and working towards a Senior Statement.

School-Based Traineeship/Apprenticeship are suitable for students who do not wish to gain an ATAR or complete tertiary education.

School-Based Traineeship/Apprenticeship and VET courses are not available to international students on a subclass 500 visa or study abroad programs.
