Prep to Year 2

Prep to Year 2 at Tamborine Mountain College, is where the foundation for a lifelong love of learning is laid.

In these crucial early years, we foster a nurturing and engaging environment that sparks curiosity and encourages exploration. Our dedicated educators guide young minds through a well-rounded curriculum, focusing on literacy, numeracy, and the development of essential social and emotional skills. Through a variety of interactive activities and play-based learning, students build a solid foundation for future academic success.

Prep to Year 2 at Tamborine Mountain College is a full time, five days a week program. The program offers a complete experience using play to provide active, experience based learning. 

All students entering the Prep year must turn five by 30 June of that year.

Prep to Year 2 at Tamborine Mountain College provides opportunities in learning environments that support learning for young children through: 

  • Real-life situations;
  • Play-based learning;
  • Focused learning and teaching events;
  • Routines and transitions; and
  • Investigations.

The Tamborine Mountain College Prep to Year 2 Program is a hands-on, discovery based course designed to stimulate children’s interests in a wide range of areas. Through social interaction and participation in activities suited to their needs, children enhance their emotional, social and intellectual growth. 

Prep to Year 2 contributes to the continuing growth of young children’s knowledge and understanding of themselves and the world around them. Learning and play experiences create an awareness of the changing world and foster positive personal and social attitudes. Opportunities are also provided for the development of healthy living habits and creativity.
