2026 Term 2 - Newsletter three

16 June 2026

Welcome to Our Final Newsletter of Semester 1

As we reach the end of Semester 1, it is hard to believe how much our Year 5 students have accomplished over the past few months. This final fortnight has been filled with memorable experiences, including our Living Wax Museum and the HIA Soccer Competition, where students demonstrated confidence, teamwork, and a willingness to challenge themselves. We are also beginning to look ahead to Term 3, with exciting opportunities such as camp on the horizon and preparations underway for a strong start to the second half of the year. In this newsletter, you will find important information about camp, uniforms and timetables for Term 3, and a few reminders about classroom equipment students may need to replace or restock over the holidays. As always, thank you for your continued support and partnership throughout a busy and rewarding semester.

HIA Soccer Day

The weather may have been wet, but it certainly didn't dampen the teamwork and community spirit on display at the HIA Soccer Competition, proudly hosted by Tamborine Mountain College at the Long Road Sporting Complex.

Our Year 5 and 6 students represented the College with pride in mixed gender teams, demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the day. Despite the challenging conditions, students embraced every opportunity to compete, support one another, and enjoy the experience of interschool sport.

We congratulate all participating students on the positive way they represented Tamborine Mountain College, both on and off the field. While the rain may have made an appearance, it certainly didn't stop the fun. The day was a wonderful celebration of sport, friendship, and community spirit, proving once again that at TMC, a little mountain rain only makes us play harder!

HASS Wax Museum

What an incredible morning we shared at our Year 5 Living Wax Museum! Students transformed themselves into significant figures from the Australian Gold Rush, bringing history to life through costumes, props, and well-researched speeches.

Families were invited to wander through the museum and meet a fascinating range of characters, from miners and entrepreneurs to explorers and community leaders. At the press of a button, each "wax figure" came to life, confidently sharing their story and explaining their contribution to life on the goldfields.

The students should be extremely proud of the effort they put into researching their chosen person, preparing their presentations, and creating their costumes. It was wonderful to see their confidence, enthusiasm, and historical knowledge on display. Thank you to all the parents and families who supported students with their research, costumes, and speech preparation. Your assistance helped make the event such a memorable success.

Camp

A reminder that our Year 5 camp will be held early next term from 19th–21st August. This is an exciting opportunity for students to build independence, strengthen friendships, and participate in a range of engaging outdoor activities. Further information, including permission forms and detailed camp arrangements, will be sent home early next term. We ask families to please mark these dates in their calendars and ensure all necessary online  forms are completed promptly once shared with you next term.

Timetable and Uniform

For Term 3, the Year 5 timetable and uniform requirements will remain unchanged. Students will continue to follow the same weekly uniform schedule:

Monday – Formal
Tuesday – Sport
Wednesday – Formal
Thursday – Sport
Friday – Formal

As we continue on with the cooler months, students are reminded that the winter uniform is still to be worn in term 3, including long pants, long socks, and ties for boys. We appreciate your support in ensuring students are dressed neatly and appropriately each day.

Classroom Equipment

As we approach the end of the term, we ask parents and carers to please take a moment to check in with your child regarding their stationery supplies. Many students are beginning to run low on essential items such as pencils, erasers, glue sticks, and other basic equipment. To ensure a smooth and productive start to next semester, we encourage families to purchase any needed replacements over the holidays so students are well prepared and ready to learn from day one.

We wish all of our Year 5 students and families a safe and restful holiday break. We hope everyone enjoys the opportunity to relax, recharge, and spend quality time together. We look forward to welcoming students back for a fun-filled and successful semester ahead.

Warm regards,
Mrs Newman, Mrs Starr, Mrs Hall, and Mr. Schönherr
