Our TMC students proudly represent the College across Athletics, Cross Country, Netball, Soccer, Touch Football, Basketball and Volleyball and we want to give them a brand new, professional and unified range of Interschool Sport uniforms and playing gear to wear with pride.

Our goal: $15,000 collectively (All Interschool teams decked out in Canterbury apparel) 

And the response so far has been incredible! 
We already have lots of local businesses showing interest in getting behind the project, but we now have just 4 WEEKS to secure the sponsorship required to make the new sporting range a reality.

$3000 pledged already ... $12,000 to go!

Because our official Interschool Competition uniforms need to remain free of business branding, we are creating high value digital and community sponsorship opportunities instead.

What a night for our TMC Senior Band! 

Our talented musicians took to the stage at the stunning Shambala Estate for the Southern Cross Soloists’ annual Chamber Music Festival, with the incredible opportunity to perform alongside some of Australia’s finest chamber musicians.

As part of the Southern Cross Soloists Education Program, our Senior Band performed a brand-new piece composed especially for them — a very special work that began right here at TMC during the Fresh Ink incursion in Term 2.

From its first notes at TMC to the concert stage at Shambala, it was wonderful to see the piece come to life through the talent, creativity and dedication of our young musicians.

Performing alongside professional musicians in such a prestigious setting is an experience they will remember for years to come — and one that reflects the confidence and musical growth of our Senior Band.

A huge congratulations to every member of the band on a truly memorable performance.

You played with confidence.
You played with passion.
And most importantly, you played with TMC pride.

If there’s one thing we know how to do at TMC, it’s Book Week and this year, the mountain was absolutely roaring! 

Our annual Book Week celebrations transformed TMC into a wonderful world of stories, with characters leaping from the pages and coming to life right before our eyes.

From heroes and villains to magical creatures, cheeky characters and some seriously imaginative creations, our students embraced the spirit of Book Week with incredible enthusiasm.

There were big costumes, little costumes, clever costumes and costumes that had us asking, “How on earth did they think of that?” 

And that’s the magic of books.

A story gives you an idea.
A character sparks your imagination.
And then you get to make it completely your own.

Our students (and staff) costumes were a wonderful celebration of creativity, imagination and, of course, a whole lot of fun. It was fantastic to see our students proudly sharing their favourite stories and characters with the TMC community.

Because here on the mountain, we like to think we do things a little differently and we do Book Week best!

No one does Book Week quite like TMC!

To help ensure the safety and efficiency of our school community, we kindly remind all families of the correct procedures when using the designated pick-up and drop-off zones.

Pick-Up Zone in the Afternoon
These bays are strictly for families collecting children who are already waiting in the pick-up area. If your child is not yet there, please circulate or park elsewhere until they are ready to be collected.

2-Minute Efficiency
The pick-up/drop-off zone is designed for a quick exchange only. Please remain in your vehicle and keep the line moving. Enter the zone only if your child/ren are visible and ready to be collected to avoid unnecessary congestion.

Enter/Exit from the Left

For safety reasons, all students must enter and exit the vehicle from the left-hand side only—this ensures they are stepping directly onto the footpath and not into traffic.

Safety First

• No parking or waiting is permitted in the drop-off/pick-up zone.
• Drive slowly (max 10 km/h), stay alert and courteous. 
• Students should enter and exit from the left-hand side of the vehicle.

Father’s Day is on Sunday, 6 September, and TMC is looking forward to celebrating the wonderful dads, grandads and father figures in our community.

Our annual Dad's Drop-Off will be held next Wednesday, 2 September. Dads are invited to stop by on their way through morning drop-off and enjoy a complimentary egg and bacon roll at our special Grab & Go BBQ Breakfast.

When: Wednesday, 2 September
Time: 7:30 am - 8:30 am
Where: Grassed area in front of Prep

Breakfast rolls are provided especially for dads and father figures as part of this celebration. Unfortunately, we are unable to cater for the whole family.

The 25th of August introduced a new era of endometriosis awareness to the high school students as the student-led bake sale got off to a flying start. Primarily directed and executed by school captain, Jorgia Stanyer, the bake sale raised an impressive $240 towards the research of the chronic condition affecting Australians assigned female at birth. 

Sophie S in year 11 initially proposed the idea, worrying the condition was too unheard of amongst the community. Furthermore, as a life-long illness, it causes excruciating pain and can only be treated through often prohibitive surgery. Jorgia commenced the planning of the event during the school holidays and pursued the project for two terms.

Last week, posters were designed and presented across the school, explaining the condition and encouraging students to bring donations for the sale. When the day came along, it was time for Jorgia and the SRC to 'smash it out and get down to the nitty gritty stuff.’ — Jorgia. While there was a “big bump on the road” due to an unexpected error, the assistance of Archie Antunovic in Year 11, the Maintenance Staff, Ms Renoldson and the Administrative Office, guaranteed the event’s success.

The goods were labelled with their ingredients for allergies and had sold out by the end of break. Additionally, ribbons and free hairspray in the endometriosis colour, yellow, were provided to raise further awareness. Jorgia later reflected: ‘I really enjoyed it’ before emphasizing: ‘I really love SRC, being accepted and known as a student while getting to know students.’ 

Jorgia also sends a massive thank you to all who participated, donated and contributed to this life-changing cause.

Three of our TMC mountain bikers have been tearing up the trails, taking on the Rocky Trail Academy South East Queensland Schools Mountain Bike Competition in Ipswich — and they absolutely smashed their own expectations!

Representing Tamborine Mountain College, Nixon, Louis and Leo lined up alongside an incredible 142 riders from across South East Queensland. With determination, skill and plenty of trail spirit, all three boys delivered outstanding performances.

 Nixon — 14th place
 Louis — 24th place
 Leo — 27th place

To have all three riders finish inside the top 30 out of 142 competitors is an incredible achievement and a wonderful reflection of the commitment they have put into developing their skills on the bike.

But the wheels are still turning!

Nixon, Louis and Leo will be back on the trails on 11 September at Nerang for their next Rocky Trail Academy competition. We can't wait to see them tackle the course, push their limits and see just how far they can go.

Come along and help our students choose a special gift for the legendary father figures and special people in their lives. Whether it’s Dad, Pop, Grandpa, an uncle, stepdad, or another special father figure, we want every child to have someone special to celebrate!

 Every Gift Is $10

Please send $10 cash with your child to school so they can choose their special gift.

This week Prep had a wonderful week of new experiences!! On Tuesday we went on our first excursion to David Fleay Wildlife Park. We got to see lots of amazing Australian animals, make small-world habitats using clues about the animal's coverings and rode on the bus!! Prep had an amazing day and learnt so much.

On Thursday we had our first Book Parade!! Everyone looked amazing in their costumes! We stood on the stage and Mr Stevens asked us questions about who we were dressed as and what book it was from! We even got to read new books that we hadn't seen before when our friends dressed as characters and brought in the book. We can't wait to do this every year.

Book Week was a wonderful opportunity for our children to immerse themselves in stories, characters, creativity and plenty of imaginative play.

Throughout the week, the children explored a range of literacy-based learning experiences, with one big question guiding our thinking: “What is a character?”

By diving a little deeper and asking questions, we encouraged the children to make meaning from the stories they were hearing and to develop their own ideas and understandings. Art was an important part of this learning. We know that young children often express their thinking through drawing, painting and creating, so we offered the provocation: “Can you draw or paint your character?”

Using different art materials gave the children another way to communicate their ideas, make connections and extend their learning. Pretend play also became part of the experience, with children retelling familiar stories, taking on different characters and having fun creating stories of their own.

Both Pre-Prep groups enjoyed a simple Book Week parade around the ELC yard, proudly sharing their costumes with their friends. We also read as many books as we could—from the delightful stories brought in from home to some of our educators’ own favourites.

On Tuesday and Thursday, we were very lucky to welcome our guest storyteller, Mrs Stevens, who joined us in costume to share two of her favourites, Where the Wild Things Are and Room on the Broom.

Thank you, Mrs Stevens, for taking the time to share your love of reading with us, and thank you to our families for helping make Book Week such an enjoyable celebration of stories, imagination and learning.

Congratulations to our four Year 12 students who progressed to the South Coast Track and Field Trials at Gold Coast Performance Centre in Runaway Bay this week.

Our students achieved some outstanding personal results across both track and field events. Reaching this level of competition reflects the hard work, commitment and determination each student has shown throughout the athletics season after their success at both school, interschool and district levels.

Congratulations to all four students on their performances and for representing the College so well. We are very proud of your achievements!
