Mighty Helpful Mitre 10 Tamborine Mountain
There are community partners… and then there are the ones who quietly show up, open their doors, and help young people step into real world experiences that stick with them for life.
A huge thank you to Mount Tamborine Hardware - Mitre 10 for their generous donation of supplies to support our Tamborine Mountain College Arts students as they prepare to represent our community at the SWELL Sculpture Festival.
Your support isn’t just materials. It’s confidence. It’s possibility. It’s students learning that their ideas matter beyond the classroom and that real businesses in their own backyard believe in them enough to invest in their growth.
From all of us at Tamborine Mountain College, thank you for backing our young people with such generosity and heart. It genuinely makes a difference. We love our mountain!

Year 3 Excursion
Our Year 3 students had a wonderful time on their excursion to Paradise Country! Although the weather was rainy, the students showed fantastic enthusiasm and resilience throughout the day.
During the excursion, students learnt all about Australian animals and explored the differences between living and non-living things in preparation for their upcoming information reports on Australian animals. One of the highlights of the day was meeting some scaly reptiles, the students were even lucky enough to pet a friendly reptile named Spot!
It was a fun and educational experience! Ms Hiron and I were very proud of the way all students represented our school.

Will I miss my child's race/game? Absolutely not. Shifts are completely flexible to ensure you can easily sneak away to watch your child compete.
What are the roles? We need people for cooking, serving, and general setup/pack down.

Friday Lunch Club
Each Friday, our Year 5 and 6 Knitting and Crocheting Club meets with Mrs Kramer and Mrs Hall to learn the basics of these creative new skills. While we are still getting the hang of things and mastering how to set up our stitches properly, we do have lots of laughs. Cries of “How did this happen?” and “Mrs Kramer, my sticks are not the same length!” could be heard as students worked through the early challenges. Our knitters are working towards creating either a beanie or a little owl, while our crocheters are aiming to make a small pouch perfect for sunglasses or other little treasures. With patience, persistence and lots of teamwork, everyone is making great progress and enjoying the challenge of learning something new.
Pre-Prep Wattle class explored the important skill of accepting a “no” during play and daily interactions through a role-play story featuring Tommy the Turtle and Matilda the Mouse. (Our social and emotional program puppets)
Together, discussing with Mrs D how it can feel disappointing when someone says “no,” but also how we can respond with kindness, patience, and respect. The children brainstormed positive ways to handle these situations, such as waiting for a turn, asking politely, or choosing another activity while they waited.
Using puppets, the children enthusiastically acted out different scenarios and practiced their problem-solving and friendship skills. Throughout the day, it was wonderful to see the children supporting one another during play and applying what they had learned.
These experiences help build resilience, empathy, and cooperation, valuable skills that support positive relationships and emotional wellbeing.
A curiosity that has been explored daily over the last 2 weeks is 'The Aquarium Play' In Pre Prep Lilly Pilly our aquarium set-up from last week has continued to inspire curiosity, creativity, and collaboration among the children. Following their strong interest, Cohen, Luca, Ace, Hunter, and Iris worked together to create tickets for the aquarium experience. Through this imaginative play, the children explored early maths concepts as they discussed and decided on ticket prices. Rich social learning also unfolded as they negotiated ideas, shared roles, solved problems together, and collaborated with peers. The children further extended their learning by sorting and classifying different sea creatures, sharing their growing knowledge and fascination with ocean animals.
Lily Pilly continued exploring the seasons and the many ways weather, plants, and animals change over time, especially with the wild and wet weather we have recently experienced on Tamborine Mountain.
As part of embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our learning, the children were introduced to the understanding that First Nations peoples often recognise six seasons, observing the natural environment closely for signs and changes in Country. Together, we discussed the clues we are noticing in our own surroundings, including cooler mornings, changes in the trees, rainfall patterns, and the animals we may see at this time of year. The children have also noticed our beautiful maple tree beginning to turn vibrant shades of red as the season changes.
Through these conversations, children are developing a deeper connection to nature and an appreciation for the rich knowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples hold about caring for and understanding the environment.
Later in the year, we look forward to visits from our local custodian, Waylene Currie, to further strengthen our connections and learning together.

Megaband
Thirteen members of the Senior Band recently participated in the first ever MEGABAND event, held at QSAC stadium. The main goal of the event was to establish an official record for Australia's largest school-aged Concert Band. With 515 students from 14 schools across the region, the bar has been set high, with organisers hoping to increase the number every year!
Organisers were delighted to bring band students from different schools together in a non-competitive setting, offering something different to Eisteddfods and Festivals. Other aims included:
Encouraging memorisation
Strengthening connections between schools
Celebrating music-making without rankings or trophies
Offering students from smaller regional schools the chance to perform in a large ensemble
Our students are looking forward to next year's event!
