TMC Stationery Drive: Helping Local Families Start the School Year Strong
As we approach the end of the year, Tamborine Mountain College is proud to support a meaningful community initiative to ensure every child starts the new school year ready to learn.
We have partnered with Beaucare, a local community organisation supporting families in need across the Scenic Rim. Each January, Beaucare provides book packs and essential school supplies to families who may not have the means to purchase them.
This is where our TMC community can make a difference. We are holding a Stationery Drive this Term to collect new school items, including:
- Exercise books (all year levels)
- Grid books
- Pencils, pens and erasers
- Rulers
- Calculators
- Glue Sticks
- Coloured pencils and pens
- And any other essential stationery families might need
All items must be new, so students receiving them can begin their school year with dignity and confidence.
Donations can be delivered to the students' classrooms/form rooms. Each room will have a box for collections during school hours. Every contribution, big or small, will help support a local student in their learning journey.
Let's show the strength of our TMC community and help set more children up for success.

On Wednesday, our TMC chess team competed in the final tournament of the year, the Gold Coast Interschool Age Championships, held at Coomera Rivers State School. Our students played with determination throughout this high-level event, with Josh F-B earning a silver medal for second place. Congratulations, Josh!
A big well done to Ethan T, Alex S, Jack AB, Isaac W, Elijah J, Josh FB and Oliver H, who each displayed commitment and represented TMC with pride.
We now look forward to the 2026 season, with the first competition scheduled for 17 February 2026 at Saint Stephen’s College.

Year 10 Mock Interviews
On Wednesday last week, the year 10s did mock job interviews as part of their ROAR subject, Career Education, to gain experience for future job opportunities. Teachers and out-of-school representatives interviewed students for a variety of real-world jobs, asking questions and getting to know the applicants, providing feedback on what they did well and ways they can improve for future interviews. Being one of the students who did an interview, it was a great opportunity for me to gain experience and have a solid Idea about what the interview process is, and ways that I can answer the questions to the best of my ability. The interviews provided a great way to start my career journey and build confidence for the future.

9 Val say Thank you
On Tuesday the Year 9 VAL Science class surprised their teacher with a huge flag of him as a gift. This kind gesture certainly made Mr Bensink's day. It's wonderful to see students going above and beyond to make their teachers feel appreciated.
Year 11 Driver Safety (Fatal 5) Police Visit
There is no question that we at TMC are blessed to work and study in the rarified air and beautiful surrounds of Tambourine Mountain. However, with these benefits comes the difficulty of navigating winding country roads and unexpected choices from tourist drivers. Consequently we spend a great deal of time and effort in educating our Year 11 and 12 students on the importance of driver safety and the avoidance of the Fatal Five; speeding, fatigue, distraction, drugs and alcohol, and not wearing seatbelts. This week we had the pleasure of hosting Constable Georgia Kelly from the Logan School Based Police Officer unit to talk with our fledgling drivers in Year 11. The talk provided students with practical ways to avoid traffic incidents including:
- limiting the number of peers in the car
- turning your phone off or on flight mode whilst driving
- recognising the signs of fatigue
- making sure that there is always a designated driver if attending parties
- never starting to drive unless everyone has their seatbelt on
Talks like these, whilst effective in identifying dangers to students, need follow up. So, if you have a teen who is starting to drive, or soon will be, please take the time to discuss these important issues so we can keep our students, our roads and our college community safe.
