What a way to finish the term! Last Friday, our Year 5 students enjoyed an unforgettable Birds of Prey presentation with wildlife expert Mark Culleton. After weeks of dissecting owl pellets, exploring animal adaptations, and even using Audiomoths for the Powerful Owl Project, meeting these incredible birds up close was a moment of pure excitment. It was the perfect celebration of their hard work and curiosity this term!
Community Partnership: Medland Orthodontics
We are delighted to announce a new Community Partnership between Tamborine Mountain College and Medland Orthodontics. In addition, Medland Orthodontics will generously donate $250 back to Tamborine Mountain College for every new patient who commences treatment.
To access this exclusive offer, simply mention the code VIPTMC25 at your new patient consultation.
This is a wonderful way to invest in your smile while also giving back to the College. We thank Medland Orthodontics for their partnership and commitment to supporting our community.

Year 5 National Geographic Kids Projects
Our Year 5 students have been working hard on their own National Geographic Kids–style articles, and the results are nothing short of amazing! These projects have brought together English, Science, and Art, with students combining research and scientific knowledge with clear writing and creative design. From striking layouts to carefully crafted explanations, each article reflects both effort and imagination. We are proud of the way students have blended creativity with accuracy, and we hope you love their work as much as we do.

Grade 2 Time Travellers: Our “Decades Dress-Up Day”
This week our Grade 2 students took a colourful step back in time for our Decades Dress-Up Day, the perfect finale to our HASS unit on Past and Present. With everything from suspenders, top hats and poodle skirts to camo, cargos and clip-on earrings our school was buzzing with characters from across the 20th century.
The fun wasn’t just in the costumes. This activity helped students make real-world connections to what we’ve been learning in class, how daily life, clothing, technology and celebrations have changed over time and how some things have stayed the same. Exploring these changes through dress-up gave students the chance to see history not just as facts and dates, but as lived experiences they could relate to and enjoy.
We also had lots of rich conversations about how the past influences the present, from music and fashion trends that still pop up today, to inventions and ideas that have shaped the world students live in now. These links are central to the Year 2 HASS curriculum and dressing the part made the learning feel immediate, memorable and best of all, fun!
A big thank you to families for their support with costumes and creativity. Our time travellers ended the unit in style and maybe even taught us that history is at its best when it’s lived, laughed at and celebrated together.

Prep - Year 2 Swimming
We are delighted to announce that our Primary Prep to Year 2 students will be participating in a series of five swimming lessons at the Tamborine Mountain Aquatic Centre. These lessons will be held on consecutive Thursdays, from October 16 to November 13, between 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m and will run for 30mins.
Our school places great value on this program, as it's not just about learning a sport—it's about developing essential, lifelong skills. The lessons are designed to do more than just teach strokes like freestyle or breaststroke; they focus on the critical skills needed to be safe in and around water. By teaching your child to navigate a water environment with skill, we empower them to handle themselves safely, whether they are at the beach, a friend's pool, or on a boat. This program provides the foundational skills for water confidence, such as floating, treading water, and breath control, which are all vital for survival.
Requirements for students participating in this lessons will require the following:
- Suitable swimming attire - can be TMC or generic branded
- A rashie
- Swimming Cap (House Colours preferred or neutral colour)
- Goggles (Optional, at the discretion of the student)
- College sports hat: Pre and post-lessons
- Bottle of water
- Sunscreen

We eagerly anticipate the start of this program and the positive impact it will have on our students. These lessons are a significant step in equipping them with crucial water safety skills that will benefit them for years to come.
