RACQ Driver Safety
On Monday, 15 June, Year 11 and 12 students participated in the RACQ Docudrama, a powerful and immersive road safety program presented by RACQ representatives Dave and Leane. Designed to educate young people about the consequences of unsafe driving, the program used a realistic crash re-enactment to highlight the dangers associated with what are known as The Fatal Five: speeding, distraction, fatigue, impaired driving, and failing to wear a seatbelt. These factors are responsible for many serious road crashes and place young Australians at a particularly high risk.
Rather than relying solely on statistics, the presentation revealed the real-life consequences that poor decisions can have on drivers, passengers, families, and the wider community. Through a series of interactive and thought-provoking surveys, Dave and Leane also provided valuable insight into how our cohort perceives and responds to the risks associated with driving. Their engaging approach encouraged students to reflect on their own attitudes and behaviours, reinforcing the importance of making safe and responsible choices on the road.
As Year 11 and 12 students, currently completing their Learner's or on their Red Ps, the RACQ Docudrama exposed us to the critical road safety factors that can make the difference between arriving home safely and becoming another statistic. While the content was confronting at times, it provided a powerful reminder of just how dangerous our roads can be and the risks young drivers face the moment they get behind the wheel.
Although obtaining a licence requires a sound understanding of road rules, the RACQ Docudrama went far beyond this, highlighting the human stories behind road trauma and emphasising the importance of making safe and responsible choices every time we get behind the wheel. Both engaging and confronting, the presentation encouraged me, along with many other students, to reflect on how even a momentary lapse in judgement can have life-changing consequences. It served as a powerful reminder that the decisions we make on the road can affect not only our own lives, but also the lives of our families, friends, and the wider community.

Year 12 Dress Up Day: “When I Grow Up…” – A Glimpse Into the Near Future
Our Year 12 students arrived on campus this week dressed for their future careers in a celebration that has left staff inspired and amused.
The theme, “When I Grow Up…”, delivered everything we hoped for and more... ambition, creativity and confidence.
We saw future doctors confidently diagnosing cases of “Monday morning fatigue” with clinical precision, while future teachers were already taking attendance before the bell had even rung.
Future tradies appeared ready for action, carrying tools as if they had been issued at birth from the Bunnings maternity ward, and future CEOs arrived with full schedules of back to back meetings… with absolutely no confirmed attendees.
Elsewhere on campus, the future looked equally fascinating.
A budding lawyer was observed passionately arguing a case that had nothing to do with anything happening at school, while a chef took it upon themselves to critically assess everyone’s lunch choices as though Michelin stars were on the line.
We also encountered a farmer whose enthusiasm far outweighed the presence of any livestock, and at least one confidently content “retired millionaire” already living their best life.
Staff are still attempting to decode several of the more abstract interpretations of the theme, but one thing is undeniably clear:
The future is bright… and thoroughly entertaining.
Year 12, we see you. We’re so proud of you!
Year 5 Science Comes Alive with a Fog Filled Dry Ice Experience
Science took on a spectacular new form for our Year 5 students, as they experienced an engaging and memorable dry ice demonstration that brought classroom learning vividly to life.
What began as a lesson on states of matter quickly transformed into a hands-on exploration of science in action. As dry ice was introduced, the room filled with swirling clouds of mist, bubbling reactions, and moments of genuine awe from students as they observed each experiment unfold.
The demonstration provided a powerful visual representation of key scientific concepts, including sublimation, temperature change, and gas expansion. Rather than simply reading about these processes, students were able to witness them firsthand, deepening their understanding through observation and curiosity-driven inquiry.
Throughout the session, students asked thoughtful questions, made predictions, and eagerly engaged with each experiment. The excitement in the room was matched only by the learning taking place, as scientific ideas became memorable and fun.
Experiences like these highlight the importance of hands-on learning in fostering curiosity and inspiring a lifelong interest in science. A sincere thank you to the staff who organised this enriching opportunity for our Year 5 cohort.
It was a lesson they won’t soon forget... filled with fog, fascination, and a whole lot of learning.

From Tamborine Mountain to Thredbo: Levi & Josh Hit the Slopes
Most brothers argue over whose turn it is on the PlayStation… but Levi and Josh are taking sibling rivalry to a whole new level, the ski slopes of Thredbo!
At the end of this month, these two talented TMC brothers will swap classrooms for snowfields as they represent Tamborine Mountain College at the Interschools Snowsports Championships in Thredbo.
This is no casual trip to the snow. Levi and Josh have committed countless hours to training, early mornings, and developing the skill, focus and fitness required to compete at this level. Their passion for snowsports and their determination to continually improve has earned them the opportunity to take on some of Australia’s best young athletes on one of the country’s most iconic alpine courses.
Opportunities like this don’t come without commitment, and Levi and Josh are a great example of what can be achieved when talent meets hard work and determination.
We wish Levi and Josh the very best of luck as they head to Thredbo. The whole TMC community will be cheering them on, from Tamborine Mountain all the way to the Snowy Mountains.
Go well, boys!
