Welcome Back to Term 3!
Welcome back to Term 3! We are so excited to see everyone’s positive energy and smiling faces back on campus as we launch into the new term at the top of our mountain. It’s wonderful to have the College buzzing again, especially as we continue to celebrate our 30 Year Anniversary.
This term is particularly special as we prepare for our 30 Year Anniversary Gala, an evening to honour the people and milestones that have made TMC all that it is today.
A huge thank you to our amazing prize sponsors who are helping make this night even more memorable, with over $16,000 worth of prizes to give away! That’s right, no fundraising, just giveaways! Every ticket holder will receive an entry into each prize draw on the night. It’s that easy!
With only three weeks until ticket sales close for good, and only two tables left, don’t miss your chance to secure your seat or gather a table of friends to join the magic of our mountain community.
Book your tickets here: https://events.humanitix.com/30-years-gala-anniversary.
We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
Parent Webinar - My Teen & The Friendship Fires
Upcoming Parent Webinar - My Teen & the Friendship Fires
Understanding and Navigating Social Struggles in the Early Teen Years
Why does one friendship issue feel like the end of the world? Why do friendship groups seem to change weekly? Our first parent webinar in the series explores the social world of early adolescence - where loyalty shifts, group chats explode, and emotions run high.
Led by Nikki O'Neill, this session will offer practical tools and expert insights into what’s really going on beneath the surface of teenage “friend drama.” You’ll learn how to spot when your teen is struggling socially, how to respond in a way that validates without overreacting, and why these experiences matter more than we think.
Whether your child is in Year 7, 8, or beyond, this is a session you won’t want to miss
Each Thursday night at 7:30pm until the final webinar, you will hear directly from our experienced College leaders as they guide you through the developmental stages of adolescence and common struggles during important milestones through Senior School. From emotional growth and brain development to identity formation, communication strategies, and supporting academic resilience, this series will unpack what’s happening behind the scenes as your child journeys through their teen years.
My Teen is here to help you understand the "why" behind the behaviours and provide practical strategies to walk alongside your child with confidence.
The below table will provide the webinar details in depth, as we work with you to strengthen the partnership between home and school, one developmental milestone at a time.
TMC Students Shine in Tamborine Times for Supporting Brain Cancer Research
Tamborine Mountain College’s caring spirit shone brightly in the final week of Term 2, earning our Primary students a feature in the Tamborine Times for their outstanding efforts to support three College families currently facing the heartbreaking impacts of brain cancer.
Determined to help in any way they could, our students took the initiative to design and host a fundraiser obstacle course on the College grounds, transforming fun and laughter into a force for good.
Through their energy, creativity, and compassion, they raised an incredible $1,582.05 for the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, helping to fund vital research, raise awareness, and support families affected by this devastating illness.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all families who donated, and to our staff who helped facilitate this event. This fundraiser was not only a meaningful contribution to the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation but also a powerful reminder of the hope that grows when our community comes together.
Tamborine Mountain College continues to keep these families in our thoughts, standing with them in their fight, one step, and one obstacle, at a time.

Year 11 Camp
The first day back into Term 3 saw our Year 11 cohort depart on their long awaited camp at Noosa NorthShore. Postponed due to Cyclone Alfred, the camp was designed to provide the students with opportunities to push their personal boundaries, develop teamwork, and display leadership, across 3 days of activities. Whether it was hiking, raft building, learning to surf, abseiling, bouldering or cooking dinner and breakfast at the beach camp site, the students displayed commendable behaviour, engagement and effort. I would like to thank Mrs Smith, Mr Cantwell, Mrs Olivier and all the students who attended for making the camp such a positive success.

TMC Students Help Track Powerful Owls
Our Tamborine Mountain College Year 5 students have once again featured in BirdLife Australia for their work with the Powerful Owl Project, embedding this important conservation initiative into their STEM learning.
Now in its fourth year at TMC, the project gave students the chance to set up AudioMoths in their backyards during April and May, recording the sounds of the night in search of Australia’s largest owl. We’re excited to share that Powerful Owl calls were confirmed in recordings from two student's backyards!
Through this hands-on project, thanks to the coordinator of the Brisbane Powerful Owl Project Andrew Dinwoodie, our students are learning to care for the wildlife that share our mountain home while building skills in data collection, analysis, and environmental stewardship.

Musical Excellence at SHEP
Over the holidays, Year 7 guitarist Eden W had a wonderful experience attending the State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP) held at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University. Advanced instrumental students from the region nominate to join SHEP programs, with successful applicants gathering for intense musical rehearsals with eminent conductors, culminating in performances at the fabulous Queensland Conservatorium Theatre.
Eden performed in the Bronze Guitar Ensemble in the SHEP South-East Qld program. Two other students, Kaia K (Year 8, Clarinet) and Faryn B (Year 7, Flute) were accepted into this program but unfortunately were unable to attend due to illness and injury.
Later this year, Year 11 vocalist Teegan M will attend SHEP Queensland, their premier program, meanwhile our advanced Year 6 students are waiting to hear nomination results for SHEP Primary.
Wonderful to see the growing musical culture here at TMC!
