Get Ready to Cheer, Splash and Quack for TMC!
Hundreds of rubber ducks will soon race down the creek in the much-loved Great Duck Race - a fun community event that supports local schools and charities. This year, Tamborine Mountain College is proud to be part of the action!
By adopting a duck, you’re not just joining in the fun, you’re helping raise valuable funds for TMC. Half of every duck adoption under our name comes straight back to the College, supporting student programs and resources.
How it works:
Purchase your duck online here at: The Great Duck Race.
Each duck is uniquely numbered and released into Currumbin Creek on race day. Don't worry, they are all collected afterwards so none are left swimming in the wild.
Prizes include a $1,500 luxury Gold Coast escape, Bunnings vouchers and cash!
Event details:
Sunday 2 November, 2:15–3:00 pm
RSL Reserve, Currumbin RSL (165 Currumbin Creek Rd)
Online entries close Saturday 1 November at 3 pm.
Let’s get our ducks in a row, cheer them on, and raise funds for TMC while supporting the local community. It’s going to be a quacking good cause!

This week's featured image is our senior students, Amelia and Ashley, at the recent Australian Interschool Championships in Sydney. Our TMC representatives (including primary student Audrey-Mae) achieved outstanding results. Read more about them in the Sports section of this newsletter.
TMC Stationery Drive: Helping Local Families Start the School Year Strong
As we approach the end of the year, Tamborine Mountain College is proud to support a meaningful community initiative to ensure every child starts the new school year ready to learn.
We have partnered with Beaucare, a local community organisation supporting families in need across the Scenic Rim. Each January, Beaucare provides book packs and essential school supplies to families who may not have the means to purchase them.
This is where our TMC community can make a difference. We are holding a Stationery Drive this Term to collect new school items, including:
- Exercise books (all year levels)
- Grid books
- Pencils, pens and erasers
- Rulers
- Calculators
- Glue Sticks
- Coloured pencils and pens
- And any other essential stationery families might need
All items must be new, so students receiving them can begin their school year with dignity and confidence.
Donations can be delivered to the students' classrooms/form rooms. Each room will have a box for collections during school hours. Every contribution, big or small, will help support a local student in their learning journey.
Let's show the strength of our TMC community and help set more children up for success.
Staying Cool and Hydrated in the Warmer Weather
As the weather begins to heat up, we’d like to remind families to help students adjust their uniform choices to suit the warmer days. We’ve noticed that some students are continuing to wear winter items and becoming unwell due to overheating.
Please encourage your child to wear the appropriate summer uniform and to bring a water bottle to school each day. Staying hydrated is especially important as temperatures rise, and students are encouraged to drink plenty of water throughout the day.
A reminder that students are not required to wear a tie during Term 4 or Term 1, and Secondary students are not required to wear their blazer on normal school days.
Thank you for your support in helping our students stay healthy, comfortable, and ready to learn during the warmer months.

Ode to TMC
Oh, TMC!
Everywhere I step, I see a sign of life.
Trees as beautiful as shimmering emeralds.
Everywhere I go, I see beautiful, majestic animals from every corner.
Up high, in the fresh, clear sky.
Everywhere I look, I see green, luscious grass.
Oh TMC, you are exceptional!
French News
Before the Term 3 break, several TMC students submitted videos of themselves reciting a poem in French for the Alliance Française French Poetry competition. I wish to thank all students who entered for their commitment and efforts in learning their poem off by heart and refining their pronunciation and presentation prior to filming.
The Alliance Française received 169 entries from 12 different schools, and reported that selecting the best productions was a very difficult task. Just 5 productions per age group were chosen, differentiating francophones and non francophone participants.
TMC is super proud to recognise the following students who all progressed to the next round, to recite their poem in person at the Alliance Française de Brisbane in West End.
Prep -Year 2
Adaline G, Eleanor M, Marshall S, Piper T, Reverie R.
Year 3-4
Aria S, Hazel D, Theo R
After deliberation, the jury will pick the 3 best candidates, who will be invited to the award ceremony the following week.
We wish all participants the very best and eagerly await the next results.

Early Learning News
V is for Volcano
This week we had an explosive time in the Lilly Pilly class creating volcanoes in the sandpit! The children worked together to build tall mounds, added vinegar and bicarb soda, and squealed with excitement as the “lava” bubbled and overflowed. This sparked rich discussions about science, cause and effect, and early chemistry concepts, building curiosity and teamwork.
Finding Our Calm
Pre Prep recently focused on finding our calm using our breathing ball. This activity helps us slow our breathing after play, take a moment to make good choices, and regulate our emotions.
In Pre Prep, we value and empower children to make choices about their feelings and behaviours throughout the day. Developing techniques to manage challenging moments is an important part of emotional growth. At the ELC, we use the Wings to Fly: Building Social and Emotional Resilience program to guide and support our practices.
The Wattle class revisited a familiar breathing technique—breathing in as the ball opens and breathing out as it closes—a wonderful way to feel calm and focused.
We introduced two new breathing exercises: Flower and Candle Breathing – Pretend to smell a beautiful flower (breathe in) and gently blow out a candle (breathe out).
Turtle Breathing – Tuck into your shell (arms in), take a slow breath in, then breathe out as you stretch back out.
The children enjoyed practising these strategies and are learning to recognise when their bodies and minds need a calm moment.
