You have to be quick to grab one of the ripe mulberries from our tree in the middle of the Primary School – they’ve become quite the favourite snack! Students have been keeping a close eye on them each day, and it’s lovely to see children enjoying a little taste of nature right in the heart of TMC.
Last Week to Donate! TMC Stationery Drive
As we approach the end of the year, Tamborine Mountain College is proud to support a meaningful community initiative to ensure every child starts the new school year ready to learn.
We have partnered with Beaucare, a local community organisation supporting families in need across the Scenic Rim. Each January, Beaucare provides book packs and essential school supplies to families who may not have the means to purchase them.
This is where our TMC community can make a difference. We are holding a Stationery Drive this Term to collect new school items, including:
- Exercise books (all year levels)
- Grid books
- Pencils, pens and erasers
- Rulers
- Calculators
- Glue Sticks
- Coloured pencils and pens
- And any other essential stationery families might need
All items must be new, so students receiving them can begin their school year with dignity and confidence.
Donations can be delivered to the students' classrooms/form rooms. Each room will have a box for collections during school hours. Every contribution, big or small, will help support a local student in their learning journey.
Let's show the strength of our TMC community and help set more children up for success.
Invitation to Tamborine Mountain College P&F AGM – Open Positions and Committee Membership
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to invite you to the upcoming Tamborine Mountain College Parents and Friends (P&F) Annual General Meeting (AGM). This meeting will be a great opportunity to hear updates from the P&F, learn about the initiatives we have undertaken this year, and discuss plans for the future of our school community.
Details of the AGM:
- Date: Tuesday, 18 November
- Time: 8:45am - 9:45am
- Location: Admin Building
During the AGM, we will also be discussing the open positions of President and Vice-President. If you are interested in applying for one of these roles, or would like more information about the responsibilities involved, please feel free to reach out or express your interest to Nikki Ward, businessdevelopment@tmc.qld.edu.au anytime before the meeting.
Additionally, we are welcoming all parents to join the P&F Committee. Being part of the Committee is a wonderful way to actively contribute to the College community, collaborate with other parents, and support initiatives that benefit our children. Committee members are encouraged to attend regular meetings (all meeting dates and activity dates for 2026 will be given at the meeting), and all parents are welcome to participate in the discussions, regardless of whether they hold an official role.
We look forward to seeing you at the AGM and appreciate your ongoing support of our College community.

New Social Media Restrictions for U16s
From 10 December, Australia will introduce new age restrictions preventing children under 16 from accessing major social media platforms. This change aims to reduce exposure to harmful content, protect developing brains, and limit risks linked with online interactions.
We are sharing this update so families have time to prepare and support their children through the upcoming changes. Many young people use social media as a daily communication tool, and some may find the adjustment difficult at first. Reassuring your child, explaining the reasons behind the change, and agreeing on clear expectations can help ease this transition.
Over the coming month, platforms will begin adjusting their age verification systems. Families should expect some disruption while the new rules take effect. In the meantime, we encourage parents to review device settings, talk openly about screen habits, and reach out to the school if you would like support.
The College is here to listen and support as you navigate this change.

Remembrance Day
This week, on Tuesday the 11th of November, the TMC college community came together to recognise and honour those Australians who have given service to our nation in times of war as a part of the 2025 Remembrance Day ceremony. While College principal Mrs Stevens and Senior College Captains Jack W and Jorgia S, and Primary College Captains Elisabeth L and Harry A attended the Tamborine Mountain Community service the rest of the college, lead by the 2026 student leaders, gathered to show their respect and remember the sacrifice of those who have defended our freedom.
Less We Forget
TMC Teacher Feature
Rebecca Smith
What inspired you to become a teacher?
I became a teacher because I wanted to help young people develop a love of learning and become amazing adults. There is nothing better than running into an ex student at the local shopping centre and seeing that they have grown into a clever and happy person.
If you weren’t a teacher, what career would you have pursued?
I used to be an Environmental Scientist before becoming a teacher. If I wasn't teaching, I would love to combine the two and become a Scientific Communicator or Environmental Educator.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is when you see new knowledge/information 'click'. Seeing the relief on a student's face or seeing them have a sense of accomplishment is inspiring.
What’s a fun fact about you that most people don’t know?
I performed in a local production of Fame. I starred as Lamb Chops and had to play drums on stage.
What’s a memorable moment from your time at Tamborine Mountain College?
My most memorable moment at TMC would be welcoming the pre-preps into the lab for science week. There were some amazing experiments, with one reacting a little bit taller than we were expecting. Thankfully, the pre-preps had a ball.
Share with us some of your greatest achievements in life?
My greatest achievements in life are my children. They are fun to hang out with and we get to have amazing adventures together.
What’s a piece of advice you wish you could give your younger self?
I would tell myself that everything is going to be OK and you don't need to have everything figured out by 17.
What are your hobbies outside of school?
My hobbies outside of school are running, reading, hiking, swimming, hanging out with my family and probably watching too much television.
What’s one thing your students have taught you?
My students have taught me that every day is a new opportunity
If you had to describe your teaching style in three words, what would they be?
Enthusiastic, energetic and kind
What’s your favourite thing about the Tamborine Mountain College community?
My favourite thing about the TMC community is the feeling that everyone belongs. I always describe our school as a school where everyone is welcomed.
What’s one song that puts you in a good mood and why?
Currently it is anything by In this Moment or the Petty Reckless. There is nothing like belting out a powerful rock song to put you in a good mood.
The Aristocats KIDS – A Wonderful Finale to Our Annual Musical
Last Saturday we wrapped up our annual Primary musical with a joyful finale performance of Disney’s The Aristocats KIDS. Following last year’s Lion King Jnr showcase, our students once again took to the stage with confidence and plenty of character.
Every performer brought energy to their role! A sincere thank you to Mrs Ivers for her musical direction, and to Mr Forbes, Ms Thompson, Ms Plumb, Ms Scholes, Mrs Starr and Ms Porter for their support throughout rehearsals and on performance day. We also say a special "thank you" to Year 9 student Skye, whose choreography added wonderful energy to the show.
Congratulations to all our students for their commitment, teamwork and courage on stage. And thank you to our families for your ongoing encouragement of the arts at TMC!
Christmas Book Fair Success!
What a wonderful way to wrap up the year! Our Christmas Book Fair was a hit, raising an incredible $1,007 in just two days!
This full amount will go towards new resources from Scholastic, helping fill our classrooms - what a perfect Christmas gift for our students!
A huge thank you to our amazing Parents & Friends (P&F) team, who once again helped to make the fair such a joyful and successful event. We are grateful for your time and talents you give to our College so generously.
Lions Club Peace Poster Competition – Congratulations to Clara!
Clara from Year 5 has been selected as Tamborine Mountain College’s winning entrant in this year’s Lions Club International Peace Poster Competition. Clara’s artwork stood out for its thoughtful symbolism, creativity, and mature interpretation of this year’s theme. Her poster will now progress to the next stage of judging, representing TMC at the regional level.
The Lions Club plays a significant role in our local community, providing assistance to families in need, hosting youth-focused programs, supporting local events, sponsoring leadership initiatives, and contributing to important causes such as vision screenings, environmental projects, and disaster relief.
Congratulations again to Clara on this outstanding accomplishment – we are all cheering her on as her poster moves forward in the competition!
