Work Experience
Mitchell W from Year 9 is working hard for the last week of term completing five days of work experience with a carpenter. Mitchell is dedicated to a trade pathway and has secured work experience so that he can try the trade and decide if it is the one for him. Well done Mitchell!
All students in the secondary school are eligible to do work experience if they are interested they should see Mrs Parker-Browne.

Readers Cup Competition 2024
Congratulations to the Year 7 and 8 students who participated in the Readers Cup competition at Saint Stephens on Wednesday night. It was wonderful to see our students enjoying the magic of books whilst showcasing the incredible power of reading.
Participating in the Readers Cup is no small feat. It requires hours of reading, understanding complex narratives, and discussing themes and characters with peers. Our students demonstrated teamwork, critical thinking, and an impressive depth of knowledge. They had to motivate and organise themselves and their preparation for the event was all on them (no adult coaching). We were incredibly proud of each participant and are excited to see where their love of books will take them next. Keep reading, keep learning, and keep shining!

7-12 Athletics Carnival 2024
Last Wednesday 5th June we had our annual Secondary School Athletics Carnival down at Jimboomba Little Athletics Complex. It was a perfect day and spirits were high. We had a total of 16 student record breakers and lots of PB's from students. It was also a first to see some events involving skipping down the 100m but it was great to see our seniors getting involved in the day. From awesome costumes, great sportsmanship, house spirit to athletes reaching new limits it was a fantastic event. Our next school carnival will be the swimming carnival in Term 4.

Year 12 Chemistry Fun
To celebrate the end of term and inject some fun into their final lesson, Year 12 Chemistry students donned their lab coats for a fruity foray into science! The students participated in a delicious experiment, extracting DNA from strawberries.
DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is the blueprint of life, containing the genetic instructions that make each organism unique. Using readily available household items, the students carefully mashed the strawberries and then employed a special technique to isolate the DNA. The result? A slimy, stringy substance that held the very essence of the strawberry.
This experiment provided insight into the fundamental building blocks of life. Students were able to observe DNA with their own eyes and gain a deeper understanding of its structure and function. Year 12 teacher, Mrs. Smith, remarked, "It's a fantastic way to end the term. It's a fun, hands-on activity that reinforces complex scientific concepts in a memorable way."
While the extracted DNA might not be enough to clone your favourite fruit, the experiment undoubtedly sparked curiosity and a deeper appreciation for the wonders of science. After all, who knew that something as delightful as a strawberry could hold such fascinating scientific secrets?

Ice Cream Fundraising Success!
The Primary SRC ran a very successful ice cream fundraiser on Tuesday to assist our Primary Lion King Jnr performance with their purchase of costumes. In total we raised $1,120 which will make a massive difference to the Primary performance. The SRC and the cast and crew of the Lion King Jnr thanks everyone for their contributions!
Beginner Music Concert
Last Friday, our newest instrumentalists took to the Stage for the first time at the Beginner Music Concert. Yr 4 Band members and Yr 5 new beginners performed duets and trios in small groups to a small audience of supportive parents. Our Junior Band members demonstrated the difference a year or two of practice can make, performing full band pieces as well as duets and trios. Selected Senior Band members provided further inspiration to our young players, performing solos, duets and quartets to finish the concert. Well done everyone!

Year 1 Diorama
Year 1 have been writing information reports about Australian animals over the term. For technlogy, we asked the students to create a habitat diorama for their favourite Australian animal. The students invited their parents in to help with their fantastic creations. It was such a lovely afternoon and the students had so much.
Thank you parents for all your support.

Year 6 - Design and Digital Technologies
This term, the Year 6 students delved into the realms of Design and Digital Technologies with remarkable enthusiasm and creativity. As part of the curriculum, they embarked on a fascinating journey exploring the intricate design and architecture of our modern TMC buildings.
Putting their newfound knowledge into practice, the students embarked on a remarkable project: designing their dream buildings and creative spaces for our college. Utilizing the Minecraft Education program, they brought their visions to life in a virtual space, combining imagination with their design knowledge.
Some of their dream design ideas included some spectacular libraries, incredible indoor and outdoor stadiums, cozy cafes, creative kitchen spaces, elegant equestrian centres and even a mini farm!
On the final day of term the students were very proud to showcase their designs and creations to Mrs Stevens. Well done, year 6!

HIA Soccer
On Wednesday, two teams consisting of Year 5 and 6 students attended the HIA Soccer Tournament held at Long Road. TMC was the only school with enough students to have both a girls and a boys team to compete throughout the day. Our girls went on to win two of their four games whilst our boys team went through undefeated, winning all four games and only conceding two goals. This also meant that TMC took out overall champions on the day. We would like to thank all students for their commitment to training as well their sportsmanship throughout the day. Thank you also to Mrs Lewis for coaching our girls team and Callum, Alex and Zeke for refereeing.

7-12 Tug of War Competition
On Wednesday afternoon during sport time we had a Tug Of War house competition. This saw our 7-9 and 10-12's verse each other in their house groups.
In the Juniors 7-9
Walton 1
Kyle 1
Nicholls 1
In the seniors 10-12
Walton 2
Kyle 1
Therefore our overall Tug of War Champions were Walton House! The afternoon was topped off with some friendly staff vs students in the games of Touch & Basketball. Our staff won Touch 3-0 and in Basketball it seemed pretty even at times between the staff and students but no score was kept and so it must be assumed that the staff won on the court too.
