2026 Next Step Year 12 Completers Survey
The Next Step Year 12 Completers survey opens on 17 March 2026. All Year 12 completers from 2025 will receive a letter from the Minister for Education inviting them to participate in this five-minute survey to help our school understand the different pathways of our graduates. This helps us to improve services for future students, and respondents have the chance to win a MacBook Air.
We ask parents, siblings and friends to encourage our graduates to complete the survey. They may also be contacted by email or phone from the Queensland Government Statistician’s Office.
Some of our Year 10 Art Excellence students are currently transforming the Year 1 and 2 classroom doors into stunning murals! These hand-painted trees are a creative centerpiece for the new InitiaLit program.
As our Junior School students master their "Tricky Words" (words formerly known as "heart words"), they will add them to the branches on colourful leaves. It’s a beautiful way to watch their vocabulary grow!
Check out the progress shots below to see our artists in action, and stay tuned for the final reveal coming soon
Our Year 5 students recently stepped into the roles of Members of Parliament as part of their Civics and Citizenship learning. Working in political parties, students wrote their own bill and introduced it to the House before debating the ideas and questioning opposing viewpoints.
The classroom was transformed into a mini parliament with a Speaker, government and opposition parties, and a very lively Question Time. To help us understand how parliament works in real life, we also watched parts of Question Time from the Australian Parliament online. The students quickly noticed that our Year 5 parliament was actually far more orderly and respectful than the real one.
Students will soon vote on the bill and see how decisions are made in a democratic system. It has been wonderful to see the students so engaged while learning about how Australia’s democracy works.

Primary Sports News
HIA Netball
Netball action was back on court this past week as our Year 5 and Year 6 girls proudly represented the College at the HIA Primary Netball Competition held at the Jimboomba Netball Courts.
Facing strong competition from Kooralbyn and Hills International, our teams showed fantastic teamwork, determination and true sportsmanship throughout the matches.
A huge thank you to our wonderful staff who supported and guided the girls on the sidelines — Mrs Starr, Mrs Newman, Miss Hiron and our Primary Sports Coordinator Mr Evans. Their encouragement helped make the day such a positive and memorable experience for our players.
Well done to all of our girls for their energy, effort and team spirit on the court!
Primary Cross Country
Friday 27th of March (Week 9)
This event provides students with a fantastic opportunity to develop positive attitudes toward physical activity and represent their Sporting Houses: Nicholls, Kyle, and Walton.
Our emphasis for the day is on participation, fun, and sportsmanship. Students will have the chance to develop social skills by competing fairly and supporting their peers. All participants will earn House points that contribute toward the overall House Shield and individual age champion titles. Please ensure your children are at school by 8:30 AM so we can begin promptly at 8:45 AM.
Event Schedule Events are split into two categories: Upper Primary and Lower Primary.
● Upper Primary: The first event commences at 9:00 AM with the 12/13 Years age group, followed by the 11 and 10 Years groups at approximately 25-minute intervals.
● Lower Primary: Racing commences at 10:10 AM with the 9 Years group and concludes with the 5–6 Years events at 10:45 AM. These races will run at 10-minute intervals.
Please note: Age groups are determined by the age a student turns at any point during 2026. For example, a student born on 22 April 2016 will compete in the 10 Years event.
Participant Requirements
● Uniform: College Sports uniform. House-coloured accessories (such as ribbons and headbands) are encouraged.
● Footwear: Appropriate running shoes.
● Sun Safety: College sports hat (to be worn pre- and post-race).
● Hydration: A labelled water bottle.
Information for Spectators We warmly encourage parents to attend, get into the House spirit, and cheer on our runners! As we are a P–12 campus, the Secondary College will be conducting normal classes during this time. To minimise disruptions, designated parent viewing areas will be fenced off.
United Girls Soccer
Tamborine Mountain Collegeis excited to announce that the Football Queensland Girls United School Program is coming to our school!
Girls United is a social football program designed exclusively for women and girls, welcoming new, existing and returning players. The Girls United School Program is an affordable, subsidised initiative that helps break down barriers to participation, costing just $20 for the full four-week program. Please see below program details, registration link and flyer. All participants must be registered prior to the clinic starting, using the link below.
In Pre-Prep Lilly Pilly we have been focusing on getting to know one another and building a strong sense of belonging. Together we created our classroom expectations and rules, helping everyone feel safe, connected and ready to learn.
We have also introduced our Acknowledgement of Country, learning the words and beginning to explore how we can care for the land and our environment.
Our “All About Me” program has been a highlight. The children have enjoyed sharing their special bags and telling us about their families, interests and pets. We even created a class graph of our pets, introducing early mathematical thinking as we compared and counted our results.
A strong focus has been on friendship, kindness and social development as the children learn to play together, communicate and build connections with one another. We have also begun exploring rhyming through songs and stories as part of our early literacy learning.
More recently, we have been learning about recycling and caring for our planet, and we are looking forward to a recycling incursion next week.
Next week we will also be celebrating Harmony Week, a special time to recognise that everybody belongs and to celebrate both our similarities and differences. Families are invited to join in the celebration, so come along and wear orange on Tuesday and Thursday. Orange is the official colour of Harmony Week and represents respect, diversity and inclusion.
It has been a busy and exciting start to the term, filled with fun, curiosity and meaningful learning.
