Volunteer Requirements at TMC
At Tamborine Mountain College, we deeply value the time, care, and support our volunteers give to our community. Volunteering is a wonderful way to support your child’s learning, connect with other families, and contribute to the spirit of our College.
To ensure all volunteers are prepared and meet legislative requirements, a new process has been introduced. From 30 September 2025, all College volunteers must hold a valid Blue Card.
If you are a current volunteer, or would like to become one, we require you to adhere to the below process please.
How to Become a Volunteer
Step 1: Registration
Complete the Volunteer Registration Form via Parent Lounge:
School Links > General Links > Volunteer Details Form
Step 2: Blue Card Application
Apply online (free of charge) here: Volunteer Blue Card. During the process, you will be asked to connect your application to an organisation. At this point, please email volunteers@tmc.qld.edu.au with your application/account number. Once you are linked to the College, you may continue with your online application.
Alternatively, you can submit a paper Application here: application form to volunteers@tmc.qld.edu.au
Once your Blue Card arrives, please email a photo of it for College records.
Step 3: Volunteer Briefing
After your Blue Card is confirmed, you will be invited to attend a Volunteer Briefing in Term 1, 2026, hosted by Head of Primary Mark Stevens and Business Development Manager Nikki Ward. Two sessions will be held in The Hall, with dates to be confirmed early next year. Attendance at one session is required.
Step 4: Ongoing Requirements
Once complete, you will be eligible to assist in classrooms, on excursions and camps, and at College events. The process remains valid for three years, with a simple refresher briefing required for ongoing participation.
If you have any questions, please contact Nikki Ward, Business Development directly.
We sincerely thank all our volunteers for their time and commitment. Your involvement makes a meaningful difference in the lives of our students and staff.

Teegan Sets Sail
Earlier this week, Year 11 student Teegan M, stepped aboard the Windeward Bound — ready to set sail at first light on an incredible voyage!
The Windeward Bound is no ordinary vessel — this magnificent 33m Brigantine has logged over 100,000 nautical miles, circumnavigated Australia, ventured to New Zealand and back, and sailed right around Tasmania.
Through the Windeward Bound Trust (est. 1993), countless young Australians have experienced personal growth, resilience, teamwork, and the thrill of the sea.
We wish Teegan fair winds and following seas as they embark on this life-changing adventure!

Luka Shines on Stage
Year 11 student Luka H has recently completed a run of performances as a lead character in the Goat Track Theatre production of Drumroll Please; it's Stevie Louise. Luka has been performing on stage for the last 6 years and has true passion for the craft of acting. In fact, Luka has recently been an extra on a yet to be announced international film that has wrapped filming in Brisbane. When asked what it was that attracted him to the stage, Luka stated, "I really love being on stage and having fun with the other cast members. I also love entertaining a crowd and being able to embrace the comedy and joy in life".
In this most recent production, Luka played the role of Alex, a flamboyant, dramatic and gregarious young man who dreams of a life on Broadway and who has an obsession with the musical Grease. Having seen the production, I can assure you that Luka shone bright. We can't wait to see what possibilities the future brings for Luka.

Primary Talent Show Update
The Primary Talent Show will now be held in Term 4, rather than on the final day of this term. This change will allow our performers more time to prepare and showcase their talents with confidence. Families of students selected to perform will receive an email next week with details, ensuring plenty of notice for rehearsals and planning.
The Primary Talent Show will no longer run as a "competition", where a 1st place winner is announced. Similar to the Secondary show, the Primary Talent Show will now be a "showcase", where the performers create a show that celebrates their unique talents.
Birds of Prey Visit at TMC
This morning, our Year 5 students were treated to a very special visit from wildlife expert Mark Culleton and his magnificent birds of prey. The display was the culmination of their term-long studies on the Powerful Owl, where students have dissected owl pellets, investigated adaptations, and even used Audiomoths as part of the Powerful Owl Project. The highlight was meeting Agatha the Powerful Owl and Rocky the Barn Owl up close, an experience that brought their learning vividly to life. Students were captivated by the birds’ presence and inspired by the chance to see first-hand the incredible adaptations they had been studying in class. It was a memorable conclusion to an engaging unit of study.

Prep's David Fleay Excursion
On Wednesday 10th September, Prep had such a wonderful time on our excursion to David Fleay Wildlife Park in Burleigh!
The children loved exploring the different animal homes and spotting the amazing creatures who live there. This tied perfectly into our Science and HASS learning, as we have been discussing where animals live and what materials are needed to build their homes. The students were especially fascinated by how waterproofing helps to keep habitats safe and dry and the animals different kinds of coverings!
It was a great day of investigating, adventure, and plenty of curious questions taking our learning outdoors for the day!
