Staying Cool and Hydrated in the Warmer Weather
As the weather begins to heat up, we’d like to remind families to help students adjust their uniform choices to suit the warmer days. We’ve noticed that some students are continuing to wear winter items and becoming unwell due to overheating.
Please encourage your child to wear the appropriate summer uniform and to bring a water bottle to school each day. Staying hydrated is especially important as temperatures rise, and students are encouraged to drink plenty of water throughout the day.
A reminder that students are not required to wear a tie during Term 4 or Term 1, and Secondary students are not required to wear their blazer on normal school days.
Thank you for your support in helping our students stay healthy, comfortable, and ready to learn during the warmer months.
TMC Stationery Drive: Helping Local Families Start the School Year Strong
As we approach the end of the year, Tamborine Mountain College is proud to support a meaningful community initiative to ensure every child starts the new school year ready to learn.
We have partnered with Beaucare, a local community organisation supporting families in need across the Scenic Rim. Each January, Beaucare provides book packs and essential school supplies to families who may not have the means to purchase them.
This is where our TMC community can make a difference. We are holding a Stationery Drive this Term to collect new school items, including:
- Exercise books (all year levels)
- Grid books
- Pencils, pens and erasers
- Rulers
- Calculators
- Glue Sticks
- Coloured pencils and pens
- And any other essential stationery families might need
All items must be new, so students receiving them can begin their school year with dignity and confidence.
Donations can be delivered to the students' classrooms/form rooms. Each room will have a box for collections during school hours. Every contribution, big or small, will help support a local student in their learning journey.
Let's show the strength of our TMC community and help set more children up for success.
Day for Daniel, Friday Oct 31
On Friday October 31, Tamborine Mountain College will participate in Day for Daniel, Australia’s largest day of action to raise awareness of child safety, protection, and harm prevention. This important national event, organised by the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, encourages schools and families to have age-appropriate conversations with children about how to stay safe – in person and online.
Students are encouraged to wear red on the day to honour Daniel’s memory and to show their support for child safety education. We ask that students bring a gold coin donation, which will go directly to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation to continue their valuable work supporting children and families across Australia.
Throughout the day, classes will take part in activities that promote the key safety messages of Recognise, React, and Report – helping children build confidence and awareness about personal safety and trusted adults they can turn to for help.
By participating in Day for Daniel, we’re reinforcing one of our core TMC values – Integrity – encouraging our students to make safe choices and to speak up for themselves and others.

Women in Defence Experience Day
Several students from year 11 were lucky enough to attend an Women in Defence Experience Day on the last day of term and Eliane W has written an account of the day.
As soon as we got to the base we changed into the Army uniform, put camouflage paint on our faces and got introduced to the fitness instructor and a few of the Navy women who took us on the Army training course. The first few obstacle courses were walking on narrow planks and swinging on a rope to get to the other side of the edge. There was a tunnel that started off dry, but getting further into the tunnel there was water and you had to rely on the person on the other end to grab your hand and pull you out. We climbed, went under and through tunnels, ropes and planks, we jumped off a 20-foot tower into the lake to wrap up the course.
The main thing they wanted us to do was learn the name of the other girl because the only way we could safely complete the obstacle course was teamwork. After a tiring day, we got a massive lunch at the base and they talked more about the options in ADF careers and were happy to answer any questions (They were really kind and welcoming).
This experience truly pushed all the girls outside their comfort zone and was a lot of fun. It reflected the importance of teamwork and strengthened my friendships, as this was a unique experience. I am personally SO glad I went and highly recommend it to anyone considering going into the Army.
Eliane W, Sophia D F and Olive A are all in the photo.

French Teacher Summer School
During the break 13x Australian French teachers, members of FATFA ( Fédération des Associations de Professeurs de Français en Australie ) travelled to the University of French Polynesia in Tahiti. We learnt of their culture and history and how this was influenced by European colonisation. Since all lectures were conducted in French it was also a great opportunity to practise and improve our own language skills; plus we learnt some Tahitian language too. In addition, we had the privilege of enjoying the beautiful scenery and aquatic life, swimming with sharks and stingrays in the crystal clear waters off Mo'orea. Before leaving Australia, I was particularly wary of trying any fish dish in case it consisted of raw fish, but now, after having learnt how to prepare Poisson Cru - it's my new favourite!

The Great Duck Race 2025
Join us for a day of laughter, splashes, and heartwarming community spirit as hundreds of rubber ducks take to the creek in the beloved Great Duck Race — a vibrant celebration where fun meets purpose.
Two Races, One Incredible Mission:
The Community Race Local schools and community groups are rallying their supporters to adopt ducks, with every dollar going straight back into grassroots projects and Burleigh Rotary initiatives. It’s your chance to cheer on your local heroes and help build a stronger, more connected Gold Coast.
The Quack Back at DV Race This is where the big ducks—and even bigger hearts—take center stage. All proceeds from this race will support two vital domestic violence charities right here in our region. Your duck could help change a life.
Join the Fun and Fundraise with Us!
For every duck adopted via the Humanitix website with Tamborine Mountain College selected as the preferred beneficiary, you’ll receive 50% of the net proceeds. The remaining 50% goes to Burleigh Rotary, supporting vital youth and community initiatives across the Gold Coast.

It's time to get your ducks in a row and adopt a duck in the Community Edition Duck Race to raise funds for participating schools, community groups and Burleigh Rotary community projects - simply select your chosen beneficiary at check- out!
By adopting a duck in the community edition race you will be in the running to win one of these fantastic prizes:
FIRST PRIZE: A $1,500 Gold Coast Luxury Escape
SECOND PRIZE: $250 in cash PLUS a $250 Bunnings Voucher
THIRD PRIZE: $100 in cash PLUS a $100 Bunnings Voucher!
The day will be full of fun-filled activities so come down and join us.
How does it work:
The Rotary Club of Burleigh Heads owns 3,000 little rubber ducks, all with unique numbers (1-3,000). For each duck you adopt you receive an entry in the race.
Your info will be entered into our master database and then using a randomization program, every ticket will be assigned a duck number. On the day of the duck race, the ducks are all released all at once into the creek (during peak tidal flow times).
Photographers will record the winners as they cross the finishing line. The winners are determined by matching the winning duck numbers back to the ticket purchaser, with winners notified immediately after the race via phone.
Online duck adoption closes at 3.00PM on Saturday 1st November.
