Community petition support for exciting potential Arts Precinct
This week Mr Andrews, Mr Stevens and Mrs Olivier met with a representative from Tamborine Mountain Arts Precinct (TMAP), a not-for-profit organisation.
TMAP is on a mission to create one of Australia's leading community arts precincts in the Gold Coast Hinterland. TMAP's efforts are currently focused on establishing exclusive use of the Mount Tamborine Vineyard and Winery property, situated on the famous Gallery Walk - owned by the local council.
The TMAP project is set to be a catalyst for innovation and change, revitalising the Gallery Walk strip and re-engaging the community. Influential figures, from business owners to government reps, call the project a ‘no-brainer’ and recognise its potential to transform the local cultural scene and boost the local economy. TMAP’s mission is to build a vibrant community arts hub - supporting arts and culture with self-funded, ongoing arts grants.
Imagine a vibrant space buzzing with creativity: a permanent community art gallery, studio and exhibition spaces, workshops, amphitheatre, commercial kitchen hire, a sculpture garden, and a café with a licensed bar. A place that also celebrates and champions local creative businesses and encourages visitors to explore the multitude of exciting events happening across the mountain.
But to make this dream a reality, the TMAP project needs our help. The College will be writing letters of support for the project and would like to ask our community to offer their support by signing the petition. By signing this petition, you're not just showing your support by endorsing TMAP's vision but advocating for a brighter future for arts and culture on Tamborine Mountain.

Farewell to Mrs Patterson
We are very sad to be saying goodbye to our year 9 & 10 Co-ordinator, the wonderful Mrs Patterson, at the end of this term. Mrs Patterson has been a valued member of the College staff for almost a decade and we wish her all the very best as she takes up a new position working with youth at an alternative high school on the Gold Coast.
As a result, from next term Mrs McGill will be taking over the position of year 9 & 10 Coordinator. Mrs McGill has previously held a range of Coordinator positions and has also been at the College a decade this year. She is looking forward to working more closely to support our wonderful Year 9 & 10 students next term.
Please take the time to say farewell to Mrs Patterson over the next week and wish her all the best in her future teaching endeavours.
Mr Justin Andrews

Primary Ice Cream Day
The Primary SRC is running a special ice cream fundraiser on Tuesday to assist our Primary Lion King Jnr performance with their purchase of costumes.
Children can bring in $5 on Monday and hand it to their teacher. On Tuesday they will get an ice cream and toppings of their choice! It promises to be a fun event for everyone involved.
We will have lactose free, gluten intolerant and dairy free options available.
Tournament of Minds
We are now taking expressions of interest in the 2024 Tournament of Minds problem-solving challenge. Tournament of Minds presents an opportunity for students, years 5 and upwards, to connect with peers and teachers, working collaboratively within a challenging and competitive environment.
IMPORTANT DATES / COMMITMENT
Once the challenges are released (Week 1, Term 3), students will need to attend weekly meetings which will be determined by team facilitators. The students have six weeks to respond to the challenge scenario.
The Gold Coast Regional presentation will take place on Sunday 18th August (every student involved will need to be available on this date). If your child’s team successfully qualifies for the state final, this will be held on the Gold Coast on Sunday 8th September.
If you would like to register your child’s interest in the competition, please email Mrs Sands (jsands@tmc.qld.edu.au) ASAP.

Students competed in a range of events including 100m, 200m, 800m, Shot-Put, Long Jump and Discus. All results will be announced next week at the conclusion of our High Jump events which are taking place during PE time.

Prep-2 Athletics Carnival
During Week 6, TMC hosted our Prep-2 Athletics Carnival, which saw our students compete in the 50m Sprint, Bean Bag Toss, High Jump and Tug of War events in their House Groups. The day started with a fantastic parade and chanting from Kyle, Nicholls and Walton, led by our Year 6 Leaders. Students then went off to compete in their events before finishing with our Parents vs Students Tug of War event, with our Parents coming away victorious.
The overall winning House for the day was incredibly tight, with only nine points separating all three Houses, however it was Walton who ended the day on top.
We would like to thank all of the students who participated, our Year 6 Leaders, Secondary student volunteers, staff and parents for making the day a success.
