Thriving Through Secondary: The TMC Way
A heartfelt thank you to all our Year 5 and Year 6 parents and guardians who joined us for the recent webinar, Thriving Through Secondary: The TMC Way. It was inspiring to see so many families come together to engage in meaningful conversations about how we can best support your child through these pivotal years.
At Tamborine Mountain College, we deeply value the partnership between home and school. It’s a relationship built on trust, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to your child’s growth. We approach this responsibility with care and pride, knowing that when we work together, students thrive.
Our purposely smaller class sizes allow us to give each child the attention they deserve—academically, socially, and personally. This individualised approach means your child is not just a number, they are known, seen, and valued. It allows us to guide and nurture them in a way that brings out their best across every area of College life.
Our College Motto, Empowering Every Student, isn’t just something we say—it’s something we live every day. At TMC, we strive to create an environment where every student feels supported, confident, and inspired to reach their full potential.
The Thriving Through Secondary webinar marks the beginning of an ongoing series of parent engagement opportunities. We look forward to continuing this open dialogue with you, sharing insights, answering your questions, and working together through the exciting milestones ahead.
Thank you once again for your time, your trust, and for being such an important part of the TMC community. If you have any follow-up questions or reflections after the webinar, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are here for you, and with you, every step of the way.
Reconciliation Week at Tamborine Mountain College
Bridging Now to Next– National Reconciliation Week 2025
Each year, National Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June) offers our nation the opportunity to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements and explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
At Tamborine Mountain College, this week held deep significance as we continue to walk together in respect, learning, and unity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
This year’s theme, “Bridging Now to Next,” reflected on the ongoing connection between past, present and future, calling on Australians to step forward together, to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.
Throughout the week, students across all year levels explored in meaningful learning experiences to strengthen their understanding of First Nations histories and cultures.
Staff also took time to reflect on the College’s Reconciliation Action Plan and how we can continue to embed culturally responsive practices across our curriculum, relationships and College culture.
At TMC, reconciliation is not confined to one week, it’s a daily commitment to listen deeply, build genuine relationships, and walk forward together, building a more united and respectful nation. We are proud to stand with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the spirit of unity and hope.

RYDA Driver Safety
On Tuesday 3rd June, the Year 11s and 10s came together to complete a one-day workshop on road safety organised by RYDA. RYDA is an interactive, not-for-profit organisation based on Road Safety Education (RSE), operating throughout Australia and New Zealand. Through the use of engaging and personalised learning, RYDA develops methods for a clearer understanding of how to prevent death and injury occurring on the roads. The activities varied throughout the day depending on their house colour, however, the quality of each activity never differed from fun and extensively detailed, making sure to always have a deep meaning behind them. The Year 11s and 10s got to hear from a multitude of speakers, including policemen, and Wayne Horkings, who is a car crash survivor. These powerful interactions created fresh perspectives on driving irresponsibly and how a single moment could change your life forever.
Whilst interviewing a few Year 11s, they said their favourite moment of the day was the car demonstration, which displayed how different speeds affect your ability to stop in time and how crucial it is to do the speed limit.

Gold Rush Living Wax Museum
On Wednesday morning, the Year 5 students brought history to life with their Gold Rush Living Wax Museum. It was wonderful to see so many parents and families come along to support and enjoy the performances.
The students worked incredibly hard to prepare for the event, researching their characters, creating costumes, and developing props to truly capture the spirit of the Australian Gold Rush. Their enthusiasm and dedication shone through as they shared their knowledge and brought the goldfields to life.
A big thank you to all the families who came to support the students and to everyone who contributed to making the event such a success. It was a fantastic way to celebrate their learning and creativity!

Little Legends Light Up the Oval!
We launched our Athletics Carnival celebrations with an explosion of energy, colour, and smiles as our incredible Prep to Year 2 students took centre stage!
The oval was buzzing with excitement as our youngest athletes sprinted, raced, and cheered their hearts out for their House and friends. Their enthusiasm was infectious, reminding us all of the pure joy that comes from having a go and supporting each other.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to our dedicated teachers, support staff, and the wonderful families who lined the sidelines with encouragement and cheers. Your presence helped make the day truly memorable, thank you!
Early Learning News
Honouring Reconciliation Week in Pre-Prep
During Reconciliation Week, our Pre-Prep children explored a range of ideas to deepen their understanding of Australia's First Nations peoples and build meaningful connections to land and Country. Through stories, art, and shared conversations, the children began to reflect on the significance of Country and how we show respect.
The Wattle class explored the concept of ‘Message Sticks’ – learning that they were used by Aboriginal people to share important messages across the groups and communities of Australia. The children and teachers spoke about how we can use the sticks we paint as tools to talk about belonging, kindness and connection to Country.
In the Lilly Pilly class the big word Reconciliation was discussed.
“It means if you have a fight and then say sorry,” Imogen.
“Yes,” we agreed. “It’s about making things right again—saying sorry, listening, and working together.”
We thought about how people can hurt each other—but also how we can show kindness and care.
Not just to each other, but to the land too.
Through reading the story - Penny the Platypus, written by Chelsea Shar Grant. The children explored ‘How can we care for our special place.'
Penny travelled up Tamborine Mountain.
She splashed in waterfalls, listened to whipbirds, saw wallabies and black cockatoos, and discovered just how beautiful the land really is.
She wondered how she could care for it.
And so—we wondered too.
How do we care for our special place?
We gathered around a bowl of water, our pretend creek.
One by one, we dropped in small pebbles.
Plop... plop... plop.
Ripples spread across the surface.
“A kind word makes a ripple,” someone said.
“Saying sorry makes a ripple.”
“A smile,” added another child.
We watched the ripples grow—thinking about how the little things we do can spread kindness.
Teddy said, “We put rubbish in the bin so it doesn’t go into the creek.”
We all agreed—that’s how we look after Country.
Later, we read Bowerbird Brood and talked about the animals that live in our local bush—bowerbirds, kookaburras, and possums.
Then we used crayons, paints, and collage to create artworks of the land—our trees, our skies, our animals.
Today we learned about the past, the land, and how to care for both.
One of our students, Akram, created a stunning artwork featuring mountains and a flowing creek. When sharing his work, Akram explained, “The brown is the energy around the mountain to protect it.” His thoughtful expression of protective energy shows a developing connection and deepening respect for the land
What a special week!
