As we come to the end of the 2025 school year, my heart is full of gratitude for our wonderful College community. It has been a year rich with learning, connection and memorable moments - the kind of year that reminds us why Tamborine Mountain College is such a special place for children to grow.

Celebrating our 30th anniversary has been a true highlight. Marking three decades of TMC’s story, from humble beginnings to the flourishing College we know today, has brought our community together in a meaningful way. Thank you to everyone who contributed to these celebrations, especially our dedicated P&F, whose support, enthusiasm and generosity have enriched so many events throughout the year. Their partnership plays a vital role in strengthening the sense of belonging that our families value so deeply.

Across the College, our students have continued to shine. They have worked hard, supported one another, and demonstrated kindness, resilience and curiosity in their learning. Whether they were stepping confidently onto the stage, representing TMC with pride, achieving personal milestones, or simply showing care and kindness for their peers, they reminded us daily of what it means to learn and live well.

Our staff also deserve heartfelt thanks. Their commitment to nurturing each student, their professionalism, and their unwavering care sit at the core of TMC’s success. I am deeply grateful for the energy and passion they bring to their work each day.

To our families, thank you for your trust and partnership. The strong relationships we share with you are central to the thriving culture of our College, and it is a privilege to walk alongside you in your children’s educational journey.

As we close the year, I hope the holiday break offers you rest, joy, and time together. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2026 as we continue to build on the strong foundation of our first 30 years.

Our Year 7 Technology students ended the school year with an exciting hands-on project that combined creativity, engineering, and a touch of rocket science. Throughout the last semester, students designed and 3D-printed rockets, applying their understanding of aerodynamics, digital design, and prototyping.

The project culminated on the very last day of school with a much-anticipated rocket launch. Students gathered on the oval to test their designs, cheer on their classmates, and celebrate the success of their hard work. There were plenty of impressive flights, a few dramatic crash-landings, and lots of laughter as students watched their creations soar.

Congratulations to our Year 7 cohort for their enthusiasm, teamwork, and dedication. It was a fantastic way to finish the year—and a launchpad for even more innovation in the future!

Last weekend, one of our talented young musicians, Liam, had the exciting opportunity to participate in the State Honours Ensemble Program (SHEP) Primary, held at the Griffith Conservatorium. This prestigious program brings together students from across Queensland for a day of intensive rehearsals, ensemble workshops, and a culminating performance on stage.

Liam was nominated by his instrumental music teacher, Ms Jewell. After a full day of rehearsals — including learning four brand-new pieces — Liam joined a large orchestra of young musicians to perform on stage at the Conservatorium. While photos weren’t able to be taken during the performance itself, his family provided a lovely picture from the day, capturing just how proud he felt to be part of the ensemble.

Congratulations, Liam, on this wonderful achievement — and thank you, Ms Jewell, for the exceptional work you continue to do with our young musicians. Experiences like these help our students grow not only in skill, but in confidence and joy for their craft.

At Tamborine Mountain College, we don’t just prepare students for Year 7… We launch them.

Our Stairway to 7 is the final step of our Year 6 to 7 transition program and gives every student the confidence, skills and head start they need to step boldly into Secondary School, supported, ready, and already rising.

At TMC, the climb isn’t scary…

It was an absolute joy to stand poolside last week and watch our students dive in, give their best, cheer each other on, and represent their Houses with such pride. 

Our swimmers showed courage, determination, and wonderful sportsmanship. It was great to see students celebrating not just their own results, but the successes of their peers. A special thank you to our Secondary Sports Coordinator, Louise Martin, our teachers, the Year 10 student-helpers, and our support staff for keeping the day running smoothly. Thank you as well to our families who came along to cheer so enthusiastically.

And, after an exciting tally of points from all races, we can share that Nicholls House claimed victory in the Years 3–6 House Points Competition! They were only seven points above Walton, and Kyle came third.

Congratulations to all our swimmers for an outstanding day in the pool. We are incredibly proud of your efforts, your positive attitudes, and the way you represented TMC!

Congratualtions to all the students (and Mr Olivier!) who participated in this term's Primary SRC Drawing Competition. The students in the SRC had a difficult time determining the winning entries, as the standard was very high. Well-done to the following students who all placed 1st in their year levels:

Our Year 1 students embraced the Christmas spirit last week with a colourful and creative tie-dye project. 

The students loved experimenting with patterns and colours, and the joy on their faces as the shirts transformed was incredible to see. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and Mr Stevens couldn’t resist joining in the fun. They also made shirts for Mr Andrews and Mrs Stevens!

It was a wonderful activity to finish the term, showcasing the fun, hands-on learning experiences that make Year 1 such a special part of Primary. Well done to our creative students and a big thank you to their teachers for organising such a memorable Christmas project.

At our final special Assembly for the year, parents and special guests gathered as we proudly recognised six remarkable young students!

The Victory and Valour Awards are an inclusive annual recognition that spans all grades, honouring students who not only live out our TMC values each day, but who also demonstrate exceptional strength of character. These students have faced challenges with bravery, bounced back with determination, and grown through every step of their learning journey.

Congratulations to our incredible Level 9 & 10 Primary students, your hard work and determination earned you a seat at the Head of Primary’s table! Keep soaring! 

On Friday November 28 our annual Primary Instrumental Music Concert was held, featuring the Yr 4 Band, Junior Band and selected students performing solos, duets and trios. The audience interaction was wonderful, with students (and parents!) clapping along to Emily F's We Will Rock You drum kit solo and playing sleigh bells during James K's Jingle Bells duet. Highlights included: the Yr 4 classes singing the Halloween-themed Boo! accompanied by the Junior Band (we loved the ghost sound effects!), Isla S performing Ed Sheeran's Perfect beautifully on flute, and our Senior Band extension group performing Megalovania from Undertale - a fantastic finale from Faryn B, Liam S and Otis V. Well done to all students for a wonderful afternoon concert!
