CC Hits the Headlines: Tamborine Mountain College’s Most Famous Feline Steals the Spotlight
Move over celebrities, our CC has officially hit the big time.
At Tamborine Mountain College, she is already well known for her daily duties which include supervising morning drop-offs, strategically claiming the sunniest spots on campus, and graciously accepting pats from her devoted public like true royalty.
Now, our beloved College cat has taken her status to a whole new level… appearing in Tamborine News alongside College Captains Jack and Jorgia.
Sources close to the story suggest CC only agreed to the interview after extensive negotiations involving treats, careful contract review, and guaranteed access to staffroom hospitality. Other reports claim the journalists were simply fortunate enough to be granted an audience with mountain royalty.
With Jack and Jorgia representing student leadership and CC representing… well… everyone’s morale, the feature showcased what we already know at TMC, leadership comes in many forms, some even with whiskers.
While Jack and Jorgia handled their roles with composure and pride, CC reminded us all who truly runs the campus (when she feels like it).
We’re just grateful she continues to graciously fit us into her very busy schedule.

100 Days to Go for the Class of 2026
Today marked a significant milestone for our Year 12 students at Tamborine Mountain College, just 100 days until their final day of school… ever.
To acknowledge this special moment, students were treated to a surprise donut celebration, a small but joyful reminder of how far they have come, and how much they have to look forward to in the weeks ahead.
As the countdown begins, so too does a period filled with final assessments, examinations, important decisions, and, most importantly, lasting memories with friends and teachers who have been part of their journey.
The message shared with our Class of 2026 was simple and fitting for the occasion:
Donut give up!
While the finish line is now in sight, the next 100 days are about more than just preparation, they are about connection, reflection, and celebrating the shared experiences that have shaped each student throughout their time at TMC.
We are incredibly proud of the kindness, integrity, equity, and commitment to success demonstrated by this cohort. These qualities will continue to carry them forward well beyond their school years.
To our Year 12 Class of 2026, enjoy every moment, support one another, and make these final 100 days truly memorable. We are cheering you on every step of the way.

Thriving Through Secondary: TMC Webinar Connects Families and Builds Confidence for the Journey Ahead
Tamborine Mountain College’s recent Primary Parent Webinar, “Thriving Through Secondary: The TMC Way,” was a resounding success, bringing together Year 5 and 6 families eager to better understand the journey from Primary into Secondary schooling.
Hosted by College Principal Fiona Stevens, the session provided an engaging and insightful overview of the Secondary experience at TMC, offering parents a clear window into how the College supports students from Years 7 through 12.
The webinar explored the many ways TMC ensures students are not only academically prepared, but also confident, connected and future ready. Fiona shared the College’s commitment to personalised learning pathways, strong pastoral care, and meaningful opportunities that allow every student to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Families were also given valuable insight into the breadth of opportunities available throughout Secondary, including academic enrichment, leadership development, co-curricular involvement, and programs designed to build resilience, independence and real-world skills.
A key highlight of the session was the live Q&A, where parents were able to engage directly with Fiona, ask questions specific to their child’s journey, and gain reassurance about the transition into Secondary School. The conversation reflected strong interest and a shared commitment between families and the College to support student success.
Feedback from attendees highlighted the clarity and depth of information provided, with many parents noting that the session helped demystify Secondary schooling and provided a strong sense of confidence about what lies ahead.
Events like this continue to reinforce TMC’s commitment to partnership with families, ensuring that parents feel informed, supported and connected at every stage of their child’s education journey.
With such a positive response, the College looks forward to continuing these meaningful conversations as students progress through their schooling at TMC.

3Vic Maths
Over the past four weeks, I have been completing my final placement for my Master of Teaching (Primary) at Southern Cross University in Year 3 VIC with Miss Hiron. During this time, students have been learning about time in Mathematics and have worked incredibly hard in preparation for their assessment.
To consolidate their learning, students participated in a hands-on lesson exploring how people told time before modern technology. They investigated how First Nations Australians used observations of nature to track the time of day, seasons, and yearly cycles. Students explored the First Nations six-season calendar and learned how changes in plants, animals, and weather signalled seasonal transitions. They also discovered how the sun, moon, and stars were used to measure and monitor time.
As part of the lesson, students focused on the movement of the sun and the shadows it creates throughout the day. Over two days, they observed, recorded, and compared the position of shadows at different times, helping them understand how people have used the sun and shadows to tell the time for thousands of years. We were fortunate to have Mr and Mrs Stevens join us for part of the lesson, and the students thoroughly enjoyed sharing their learning and knowledge they had gained throughout the unit.
Students should be very proud of the progress they have made and the effort they have shown, and I look forward to spending the final few weeks of my placement continuing to learn alongside the Year 3 VIC class.

Year 5 Living Wax Museum
What an incredible morning we shared at our Year 5 Living Wax Museum! Students transformed themselves into significant figures from the Australian Gold Rush, bringing history to life through costumes, props, and well-researched speeches.
Families were invited to wander through the museum and meet a fascinating range of characters, from miners and entrepreneurs to explorers and community leaders. At the press of a button, each "wax figure" came to life, confidently sharing their story and explaining their contribution to life on the goldfields.
The students should be extremely proud of the effort they put into researching their chosen person, preparing their presentations, and creating their costumes. It was wonderful to see their confidence, enthusiasm, and historical knowledge on display. Thank you to all the parents and families who supported students with their research, costumes, and speech preparation. Your assistance helped make the event such a memorable success.

Wednesdays at TMC Are Kicking Goals!
There is no such thing as a quiet Wednesday afternoon at Tamborine Mountain College. As the school day winds down, the oval springs to life with excitement and footies flying through the air as students take part in our hugely popular AFL Auskick and SuperKick programs.
These programs continue to go from strength to strength, regularly attracting more than 50 enthusiastic students each week. We had first time players learning the fundamentals of the game and emerging young athletes refining their skills, every session is filled with energy and plenty of fun.
What makes the program so special is the positive and inclusive environment it creates. Students are not only developing their AFL skills but also building confidence, forming new friendships, learning teamwork and embracing an active lifestyle. The smiles on their faces each week are a clear indication of just how much they enjoy being involved.
The strong participation numbers are a wonderful reflection of the enthusiasm our students have for sport and the supportive community that surrounds them.
A huge thank you goes to our dedicated coaches and supportive families whose commitment helps make these sessions possible. Their enthusiasm and encouragement have helped turn Wednesday afternoons into one of the highlights of the week at TMC.
With big numbers, big fun and plenty of team spirit, Wednesdays at TMC are certainly kicking goals.

TMC Artists Shine on the State Stage at Darcy Doyle Art Awards
Tamborine Mountain College is proud to celebrate the outstanding artistic achievements of two of our talented students, Walter (Year 3) and Ivy (Year 9), who have both been selected to exhibit their artworks in the prestigious Darcy Doyle Art Awards.
This is an exceptional accomplishment. The Darcy Doyle Art Awards attract a large number of entries from across Queensland, making selection for exhibition a significant honour and a strong recognition of artistic quality, creativity, and technical skill.
Walter and Ivy’s inclusion in the exhibition reflects the imagination and dedication they bring to their creative practice. Their work stood out among many entries, highlighting not only their talent but also their commitment to developing as young artists.
The exhibition will run from 19 June 2026 to 28 June 2026, and families and members of the community are warmly encouraged to visit and support these inspiring student artists.
We congratulate Walter and Ivy on this exciting achievement and look forward to seeing their artistic journeys continue to flourish in the years ahead.
Band Incursion Day: Creating Our Own Music!
Last Friday, May 29, our Senior, Junior and Yr 4 Bands each participated in incursions with musicians from the renowned Southern Cross Soloists (SXS). After demonstrations of performance and improvisation, students were encouraged to explore imagery and different sounds on their instruments, with the aim to create an original piece together!
From candy to dirtbikes, chaos and nature, students created a variety of different musical ideas. SXS Artistic Director and Associate Professor at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, Tim Munro, will take these musical "sketches" and form them into finished pieces for students to play when SXS returns next term.
The Senior Band will perform their piece, inspired by whale song, with SXS at the annual SXS Chamber Music Festival, held at Shambala Estate in August. We are so lucky to have this opportunity to create and perform music with professional musicians, at a beautiful mountain venue.

Secondary Athletics Carnival
Our Secondary Athletics Carnival delivered everything we love about College sport, energy, enthusiasm, competition, and an outstanding display of House spirit from start to finish.
The field was alive with colour and movement as students competed across a wide range of events including running, jumping and throwing disciplines. Every event was met with determination and focus, as students gave their all in pursuit of personal bests and House points.
The atmosphere throughout the day was electric. The sidelines were filled with cheering students, encouraging teammates and celebrating every effort, whether it was a podium finish or a courageous first attempt at a new event. The sense of support across Houses was a true highlight, reflecting the strong culture of respect and camaraderie within our Secondary cohort.
What stood out most was not only the level of athletic ability on display, but the willingness of students to step outside their comfort zones, take on new challenges, and contribute to their House wherever they could. Many students competed in multiple events demonstrating commitment and a genuine desire to support their teams.
Staff also played an important role in ensuring the day ran smoothly, contributing both on and off the field to create a safe, well organised and highly engaging event for all involved.
As results are tallied and House standings are finalised, anticipation builds for the announcement of the winning House. However, the true success of the day lies in the spirit of participation, the encouragement shown between competitors, and the pride demonstrated by every student who took part.
The Secondary Athletics Carnival once again highlighted what makes our College community so special, a shared commitment to effort, encouragement and excellence in all that we do.
Strong Results for TMC Equestrian Team at Darling Downs & South West Queensland Regional Championships
What a weekend of determination and true grit for the Tamborine Mountain College Equestrian Team, proudly sponsored by Professionals Tamborine Mountain, at the Darling Downs and South West Queensland Regional Championships.
Despite challenging conditions in the lead up, with significant rainfall impacting preparation and practice opportunities, our riders stepped into competition with focus and composure, delivering performances that reflected months of hard work and commitment.
Harlow produced a standout result in the Primary CT 50cm class, finishing 2nd overall and securing a well earned qualifier for the State Championships. This achievement marks a significant milestone in her season and is a testament to her consistency, dedication, and growing confidence in the ring.
Harlow also celebrated another important success in the Novice division, locking in her final qualifying score for States. This achievement is a fantastic reflection of her progression through the season and sets her up strongly for the next stage of competition.
In the same highly competitive Novice field, Harlow demonstrated impressive composure and determination, particularly given the wet conditions impacting preparation. She delivered a strong overall performance to finish 5th, holding her nerve across both phases and showing great maturity under pressure.
These results highlight not only individual success but also the spirit of our TMC Equestrian Team as a whole.
Congratulations, Harlow, an outstanding weekend of results and a very exciting path ahead as you head toward the State Championships.
Record Breaking Runners at TMC!
Nothing stops our athletes, not even the mountain weather! Our 8 to 13-year-olds took to the track earlier this week for the grueling 800m events.
Despite the damp track and wet conditions, our students showed incredible grit, determination, and sportsmanship. A massive shoutout to our race winners, who didn't just brave the elements, they absolutely smashed through them to break several long-standing school records!
Congratulations to all of our competitors for giving it their all, and a big thank you to Mr Evans, Mrs Starr and our TMC families who braved the showers in and out to facilitate the events. The future of our athletics program is looking incredibly bright!
