Athletics Carnival – Friday 6th June

Get ready to run, jump and cheer! Our Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday 6th June at the Long Road Sports Complex

Students must arrive at school by 8:30am so we can depart promptly at 8:50am. All students are to wear their College sports uniform, but they are encouraged to show their house spirit with fun accessories such as ribbons, socks or headbands in their house colours.

Please make sure your child brings the following items:

  • Running shoes
  • College sports hat
  • Water bottle
  • Sunscreen
  • Packed lunch and snacks (as food facilities will be very limited on the day)

Families are warmly invited to join us at the Long Road Sports Complex to support and cheer on our students throughout the day.

For detailed event times and specific information, please refer to the email from Mr Evans, sent on Thursday 15th May.

Let’s make it a fantastic day of energy, effort, and team spirit!

Supporting Your Child During End-of-Term Assessments

As we approach the end of term, students are beginning to finalise projects and prepare for assessment tasks across a range of subjects. This can be a busy and sometimes stressful time, but with the right support at home, students can feel more confident and organised.

Here are a few simple ways families can help:

1. Maintain a Routine
Consistent bedtimes and regular meals can make a big difference to a child’s ability to focus and manage their workload.

2. Talk Through Any Challenges
Have regular check-ins with your child to discuss any areas they may be finding difficult. Setting aside some time to work through tricky concepts or tasks together can help build their confidence and reinforce learning.

3. Make Use of Online Resources
Remember, your child can access their school Google account from home, this link provides step-by-step instructions: https://www.tmc.qld.edu.au/resources/for-students/it-howtos. This can be a great way to review classroom materials, catch up on unfinished work, or revise for upcoming assessments.

4. Encourage Short Breaks and Physical Activity
Support your child to take regular brain breaks, go outside for fresh air, or move their body—this helps improve concentration and reduces fatigue.

5. Offer Encouragement and Praise
A little encouragement goes a long way. Acknowledge your child’s effort, not just the outcome, and remind them that doing their best is what matters most.

6. Reach Out if You Need Support
If your child is feeling overwhelmed, or if you have any concerns about upcoming assessments, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher. We’re here to help.

With your support at home and guidance at school, we can work together to help your child finish the term feeling proud of their efforts.
