Audiomoths

Please assist your child with setting up the audiomoths. They are citizen scientists and it would be amazing if the students actually record the sound of a powerful owl. Three audiomoths came back without any recordings and may be because the students forgot to engage the right settings.

The Gold Rush

As you are probably aware, we have started to look for gold on the school grounds. The students have already found gold and will be keeping track of their findings in their bank balance sheet. To give them a sense of the situation during the gold rush I would like to encourage the students to dig even if it rains. Would you please be so kind as to let them bring a raincoat on Wednesdays?

Also, how is your child going with their homework assignment? Have they chosen a character, started their research, come up with a costume, and started practicing their speech. Any encouragement from will help. Thank you in advance.

Finally, during the early years of the gold rush women did not have to pay for a license fee. On Wednesday the boy students may have a funny request to wear women's clothing to school, now you know the reason ;-)

Mrs Newman's last week

Thank you all for the lovely cards, presents and well wishes for Mrs Newman's farewell this week. We will give the, now overflowing, basket to her on Thursday! If you would still like to contribute, there is still time to bring something in until Thursday (just make sure it's done in secret since she is unaware of it). Thanks again, you are very generous!

Uniforms (wed-Fri)

Formal uniforms are now only worn on Monday and Tuesdays. On Wednesdays the students will dig for gold in the dirt, Thursdays they have PE and on Fridays they have Art.

Water bottles for Science

This week the students will be looking at transtitions between stages of matter in Science and what is more fun than to create a transition yourself? For this experiment they will need a small water bottle. The thin, 600 ml water bottles work the best but any plastic water bottle should work. Don't worry if you do not have one lying around because I still have a few extra ones in class. But if you do have one in the recycling bin, please let your child bring it into school instead. It is much appreciated.
