Prep - Year 2

Prep at Tamborine Mountain College is a full time, five days a week program. the program offers a complete experience using play to provide active, experience based learning. All students entering the Prep year must turn five by 30 June of that year.


Prep at Tamborine Mountain College provides opportunities in learning environments that support learning for young children through: 

  • Real-life situations
  • Play-based learning
  • Focused learning and teaching events
  • Routines and transitions
  • Investigations.

The Tamborine Mountain College educational Prep Program is a hands-on, discovery based course designed to stimulate children’s interests in a wide range of areas. Through social interaction and participation in activities suited to their needs, children enhance their emotional, social and intellectual growth. 

Prep contributes to the continuing growth of young children’s knowledge and understanding of themselves and the world around them. Learning and play experiences create an awareness of the changing world and foster positive personal and social attitudes. Opportunities are also provided for the development of healthy living habits and creativity.

Primary follows the Australian Curriculum and offers French right from Prep class.

Teacher tutorials occur typically one afternoon per week in Years 1 - 6 from 3:00pm – 3:30pm (excluding the first and last week of term).

  • Tutorials are at no additional cost to families
  • Tutorials for Primary children are normally by invitation from the teacher, after the teacher has identified a particular need
  • Parent requests may be considered if numbers allow

A bus travel concession may apply for other catchment areas. 
Tamborine Mountain College families pay a family fare when travelling on TM Coaches, ensuring comparatively low fees for bus transport ($35 per family for ten trips, equating to $3.50 each way, paid directly to TM Coach driver).
