Our featured image this week is the members of our amazing Equestrian Team who all worked together to win major honours at the recent QLD Titles.
The Student Representative Councils for both Primary and Secondary have joined forces in term 4 to organise a food drive for the Animal Welfare League. Christmas can be a hard time for animal shelters and we would love to help support them through this.
The items that the AWL request are: Food for all types of animals, both dry and wet food for dogs and cats, dog and cat collars, dog leads, animal beds and blankets - all must be new due to Covid regulations, puzzle feeders for dogs, all types of dog and cat toys, and long-lasting treats.
Students can bring items into their classroom teachers and they will be delivered to the Animal Welfare League during the last week of school. We thank you for your continued support of our Student Representative Council Fundraising efforts for 2020.

Look up! See the sky. Did you know that there are cities where it is too polluted to see blue skies? In a number of countries in Asia, it is so humid that there are thick clouds that cover the whole sky. You could hardly see the blueness in the sky.
We are privileged to be able to see the contrast between the blue and white. This photo was taken in Term 3, I wonder how many of you noticed the clouds and how many of you remember the day.
The next photo was taken just 10 minutes after. Notice how it looks different in that short time. Think about it, the sky will never be the same in any two days. It is always different. They may look similar, but they are still different. Just like each and every one of you. Each unique in your own way.

Our Year 12 students are now allowed to dance at the Formal. This wonderful news was a lovely way to conclude our 12s’ last day of classes on campus today.
Invitations to attend the reformatted Awards Day ceremony will be sent to parents next week. We had hoped for an announcement from QLD Health reducing the restrictions surrounding on-campus events however this did not occur. All our on-campus events abide by COVID-Safe requirements to ensure we are meeting our commitments to QLD Health, our staff, students, and families. Please ensure you are familiar with the processes involved in attending any on-campus event and adhere to the requirements.
It is certainly a relief that we are in a position to celebrate the wonderful achievements of our students with our College families.

What a wonderful week it was at the College. ArtsFest was a great success as a virtual event and each day celebrated a different element of The Arts curriculum that we value so much at our school.
Monday started with Visual Arts, showcasing a selection of student work from P-12.
Tuesday's video featured our youngest learners at the Early Learning Centre, as they discovered self portraits and working with clay.
Our two Primary choirs were on Wednesday, the Lower Primary Kookaburras and Upper Primary Songbirds sang beautifully.
Thursday featured Drama performances from our Secondary students, as well as a montage video of our Primary Wizard of Oz production. We had some live performances of The Wizard of Oz for the performers' families during this week. It was so special to be able to share this event with the parents - our first event like this since March. The full performance video has been recorded and will be shared with the performers' families later this term.
Our musicians rounded off ArtsFest today, showcasing talent from our Junior and Senior Band, the Year 4 Band and our Instrumental students.
I would like to thank the students who were involved in ArtsFest this year. You all did an amazing job representing the College and you should be proud of your creativity.
A special thanks to our Arts teachers: Mrs Addison, Ms Criss, Ms Green, Ms Jewell and Mrs Radley. Their dedication and enthusiasm is a daily inspiration for our students.
If you would like to look back at the week that was, ArtsFest can be found HERE on the College website.

During ArtsFest our Primary Drama department performed a rendition of the Wizard of Oz. The Primary students attended the dress rehearsal on the 12th October, followed by a performance for their parents and staff.
Another wonderful effort from cast members Scarlett Small playing Dorothy, Ava Byrnes as the Witch, Oliver Davenport as the Scarecrow, Archie Antunovic playing the Tin Man, Mia Walshe & Sophia De Freitas sharing the Lion roles, Lia Erasmus as the Good Fairy & Lachlan Sanders playing the Wizard of Oz. They performed accompanied by the Primary choir, Munchkins and Tree/Monkey cast members for a performance on 14th October at 2pm and an afternoon show at 5:30pm.
Many thanks to our amazing staff who made this production possible for our students; Felicity, Addison, Deb Horn, Sam Noel, Gemma Newman, Ruth Visser & Laurinne McQueen. Special thanks to Mr Stevens & Mr Jamieson for filming our Wizard of Oz production.

Next week TMC will be celebrating Book Week. During this time TMC will spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children's authors and illustrators. Students will participate in various activities and share stories with each other to highlight the importance of reading.
On Friday 23rd October, Primary school students are encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character. Alternatively, students can wear their sport uniform on Friday and bring their favourite book along.
Please contact your child’s classroom teacher if you have any questions. We look forward to a wonderful week supporting the love of reading!
We are very excited here at the ELC after we watched our virtual ArtsFest video, seeing all of the children’s hard work come together and the delight in their faces warmed our hearts. We are super-proud teachers, the children have been working on self portraits all year and to see the growth in their development is encouraging.
As mentioned in last week's article, we have started a project on gratitude exploring ideas of what this means to us. How can we show gratitude to others and help ourselves feel good in the process?
Through a drawing experience the children communicated who, what or where they are grateful for. You will be so happy to know that many of the children discussed their families, favourite foods struck a chord and favourite toys. They specifically mentioned favourite toys that Mum or Dad bought for them. As we progress through this topic, the children understand that a place, like a holiday destination, can be something to be grateful for because of the happy feelings and memories it creates. If you are visiting the ELC collecting your child, have a look at the wall display and take the time to write on a paper heart about something that makes you happy and grateful about your child. We will share these hearts with the children during the course of the day.
The children in the younger 3 year-old room has been working hard to recognise their name through finding their name card and sticking it on the whiteboard so everyone can see who is here today. They are preparing to transition to Preprep next year and are doing a great job challenging themselves during the variety of experiences the educators offer. With growing bodies our larger gross motor equipment has also been super popular outside.
In outside school hours care this week, a few of the older girls initiated and completed a glitter glue challenge. What can you create with only glitter and glue? Take a look at their creations on our challenge wall. From time to time cooking features in the program, this week we will be making pikelets. A warm tasty treat in the afternoon is always popular.
The whole centre is excited and working hard to offer an amazing open day this Saturday the 17th October 10.00 - 11.30am. Please let any families you may know looking for future early education that they are very welcome to attend, or if you would love to bring your child and enjoy the activities on offer, then you too are welcome. We look forward to a fun morning, sharing what we do here, showcasing our beautiful centre to the whole community. We can't wait to see you.
Mrs Nikki Ashley
Arts Fest Week has seen so many fabulous performances and abilities of our students across all the Arts, a particular highlight for me being our Primary Choirs. The Songbirds Choir made a fabulous debut College Musical: The Wizard of Oz. The Kookaburras Choir, in its first year of rehearsals, performed some of our favourite songs from the year. Seeing our student's smiling faces and fabulous singing is a great reminder of the power of music to lift all our spirits in challenging times. I am so proud of their effort, achievement and progress - well done to all our singers!
