This morning, the College paused to commemorate ANZAC Day with a service on campus. Mr Worton and our Year 12 and Year 7 Captains shared touching stories and poems about the ANZACs with staff and students.
On Monday, a number of student leaders will be marching at the 10.30 am ANZAC Day parade on Main Street, North Tamborine. School captain, Lachlan Williams will be delivering the junior address at the 11 am service.
All TMC families are welcome to line the streets from the Zamia Theatre during the march and to attend the service held at the North Tamborine Cenotaph. Our students are encouraged to wear TMC uniform to acknowledge the importance of the day.
Lest We Forget.
On Thursday, the first of this year's university visits took place at the College. Each year the College organises representatives from the major South East Queensland universities to come and talk to our year 12 students about the opportunities, services and processes involved in applying for and attending university. This week saw Lara and Ethan from Griffith Uni chat with the students about the range of courses and pathways that exist when choosing to study at Griffith University. The seminar was very enlightening for many students, especially those hoping to stay and study on the Gold Coast.
We will be holding other visits from SCU, UQ, QUT and Bond throughout Term 2 and 3 in time for the commencement of the QTAC process. In addition to this, a parent information session will be held later this term (date to be confirmed) to provide a more detailed breakdown of the QTAC university application process.

It is with much excitement that we can again welcome Primary parents back to our assemblies! From next Monday, our assemblies will be held in the hall starting at 2:10pm. Parents traditionally sit in the back rows of the hall, but space can easily be made on floor level if you find the stairs a bit difficult.
There will of course be some Covid-safety considerations. As visitors, we will not need to check parental vaccination status, but anyone with Covid-19 symptoms will not be able to attend our assemblies while unwell. Thank you for your understanding and compliance with this.
The P&F is organising the Mother's Day stall to be held on Wednesday, May 4 this year. The P&F have been busy sourcing locally made treats to sell and we are proud to support businesses in our area. More information about gift prices will come soon.
One of the best gifts any parent can give a child is the love of books and the joy and benefits of independent reading for fun. Children who read at home, or are read to, have a head start on reading success in school.
Our School participates in the Scholastic Book Club. Up to twice a term, catalogues containing a selection of books for all ages, are sent home with children. Each order helps earn free books and teaching materials for our classrooms.
It is easy to order. The Book Club Loop platform for parents allows you to pay by credit card. Your child’s order is submitted directly to school and the books will be delivered to class. You can place your child’s order at scholastic.com.au/loop or by using the LOOP app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
At the end of Term 1 the ELC children took part in some fun Easter activities including egg and spoon races, craft and cooking focusing on: on learning to take turns, follow instructions and develop positional language.
Pre-Prep attended the College ANZAC day ceremony on Friday. Earlier this week, children contributed to the special occasion by making a Poppy wreath. This is the first event that the Pre Prep have attended for 2022 so it was with excitement and enthusiasm they walked with a partner and teachers to see and hear the College leaders speak as we all remembered the ANZACs. We finished the service by laying a wreath under the flag poles out the front of the College.
Kindy Class
We have welcomed many new families into the ELC for Term 2, to those families we look forward to working with you all and supporting your child’s learning journey. The ELC garden has been well taken care of by Kindy this week when they watered and weeded the garden beds.
Mothers/Grandmothers we would love to invite you to the centre to join in some Mother's Day themed activities on Friday 6 May at drop off from 8.15 - 9.30am. The children will finish with a musical performance.
Note # This is for the whole centre both Vic and Val classes. So if you do not attend on Fridays you are welcome to attend as we celebrate our lovely Mothers/special people.

Vacation Care was busy over the Easter holidays with so many fun activities to take part in. Movies, sports, sensory play and dressing up in costumes were all popular.
Mrs Horne and the team of Educators worked hard during Term 1 to support the children during after school care following ‘My Time Our Place’ - Framework for school-aged children. The Framework assists educators to provide children with opportunities to maximise their potential and develop a foundation for future success in life.
Our centre caters for a range of ages from as little as 3 right up to 12 years of age, at different stages over the term we include discussions around settling boundaries and being respectful of other children and educators just like at the College. Part of belonging to different groups takes time. We often reflect on how they can best make choices to be successful in their life. This supports and complements the values and curriculum in the Primary years.
Note # Please remember to provide your child with an afternoon snack to eat in the early afternoon, the centre supplies fruit and drink as well as a late snack later in the day.
We are currently reflecting on what options can be offered at this time as we do not have a food/hygiene licence which limits the kinds of menu items we can provide.

After the rain delays last term we finally had our Prep - 12 Cross Country on Wednesday. It was perfect conditions down at Long Road and both staff and students displayed amazing house spirit. Whilst students weren't running, House Captains had their houses chanting war cries and displaying their house spirit to earn points for the Cross Country Spirit Trophy. We even had Mr Hall (Year 4 Teacher) complete the course with his students in a race, well done Mr Hall. Overall it was a great day and there were some brilliant efforts from students. A big thank you to all student helpers that stepped up and volunteered on the day. All results and age champions will be announced on Assembly next week!
