Tomorrow is the College's Open Day. It promises to be a lot of fun with rides, games, displays, performances and food trucks. Please come along and enjoy the day!
The Tamborine Mountain College P&F proudly hosted the 2021 Mountain Mother's Day Lunch at the beautiful Hampton Estate, Tamborine Mountain. The event was a fabulous opportunity for TMC mums, and other mums from the mountain, to get together and celebrate in style.
Upon arrival, our mums enjoyed a drink and canapes whilst listening to the beautiful sounds of senior TMC flutists, Cleah Sullivan and Emily Clarke. During the delicious lunch, guests were entertained by a fashion parade sponsored by local businesses, Illahie Boutique and Soul House of Hair.
Erica Bartle from Outland Denim and Luisa Slack Smith from Scenic Road Magazine and Properties were guest speakers and kept the audience enthralled.
There was a silent auction and many wonderful raffle prizes drawn. Scroll down to see some images as well as a video of the day.
It truly was a wonderful day put together by our P&F President, Rebecca Kesby, and P&F Vice President, Louisa Honan-Trevethan, and the P&F team. We are so thankful for all their efforts in making this a special day for the TMC community.
A big 'Thank you' to the sponsors for the day:
We look forward to next year's event.

The MLTAQ Speech Contest is back on this year! Any students in year 4-12 who wish to show off their French speaking skills are encouraged to express their interest with their French teacher or keep an eye on daily notices for more information.
Students from years 4-8 will be provided with a speech template, whereas students from year 9-12 will be given a topic and a time limit for their speech that they will write themselves. All students will be asked at least two questions after their speech.
Once students have expressed interest, they will be added to a Google Classroom that will contain resources to help them prepare. Additionally, students will be able to attend lunchtime sessions to practice.
The competition will be held at Griffith University Gold Coast on Sunday the 25th July.

TMC's junior debating teams were both victorious in their most recent round of debating, each having to argue opposite sides of: "Marvel's Avengers are Good Role Models." Debaters meet multiple times a week to hone their arguments, help one another to improve and ensure they are as prepared as possible for their round. Congratulations to Ava Byrnes, Harmony Corden, Scarlett Thomson, Phineas Thomson, Jorgia Stanyer, Mikayala Lagana, Emma Anderson and Sophia De Freitas for their valiant efforts.

This term in ARC our Year 12s have been learning about essential life skills, with a particular focus on sound financial choices, taxes, super, insurance etc. This week they embarked on this journey with Rhonda from RACQ in their "Cut the Cord" program, learning about how our emotions can sabotage our financial decision making and how students can categorise their spending and saving to start building financial habits that will set them up to have better control over their finances in the long run.
Rhonda was especially impressed by the financial maturity of our 12s. For example, when surveyed upon how they would find extra money to make an upcoming purchase, the vast majority of students chose to work extra shifts rather than ask family, friends or use credit elsewhere. Students thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and are looking forward to going into further depth on these topics in ARC. At TMC we truly believe in a holistic education which will prepare students for success in every avenue of life.

As part of our science studies, We recently visited Jacob's Well Environmental Education. What a wonderful day it was! Our children had endless opportunities to investigate, explore and discover the mangroves and forest. We examined crabs, snails, leaves and insects. We even viewed possums and sugar gliders in habitat boxes using a special camera. We met Bluey the blue-tongued lizard, Argo the carpet python and Lucky the turtle. This experience contextualised, fostered and extended our understanding, not only of living, non-living and once living things - but of the world around us. A truly hands-on experience, that was enjoyed by everyone.
A big thank you to the JWEEC team, our parent helpers and wonderful teacher aides.

The Year 2 children have been exploring 3D shapes this week during our Mathematics lessons. They have looked at the properties of 3D shapes and can identify edges, corners, faces and the 2D shapes required to make nets. The children really enjoyed making their own 3D shapes with toothpicks and playdough. The hands-on activity really helped with their learning and understanding. Have a great weekend.
