COVID-19 Term 3 Update #1
With the recent spike in cases in Victoria and NSW, and a few cases in the Logan area, it is a good time to evaluate how you and your family are going with your own COVID-safe practices - these are the practical steps everyone in the community can all take each day.
Ask yourself:
- Am I still washing my hands for 20 seconds?
- Am I remembering to socially distance myself from my friends, work colleagues and people from other households?
- Am I being mindful to not touch my face, nose, eyes or mouth with unwashed hands?
- Am I forgetting to cover my coughs and sneezes?
- Am I going to crowded places where social distancing is not possible, without taking precautions with my hygiene?
- Am I going to work or into the community while unwell?
At the College, our COVID Management Plan is still operational and it is reviewed and updated regularly. Please re-familiarise yourself with the main steps we ask all families to take to keep each other safe.
Parent Responsibilities
Sick Children - If your child is displaying any symptoms of sickness, they are not to attend school. Any students who present at school with symptoms of illness may be issued with a medical mask and will be sent home. This is a directive from the QLD Health Department and allows the College to provide a safe environment for all children.
Entry onto College Grounds - Until further notice, parents are not permitted within our campus. The only exception for this in the Primary Drop Off or Pick Up area next to the Platypus building (Prep classrooms). Parents must not stay for any unnecessary length of time in the car park or on College grounds. All parents must use social distancing between each other and around other children when on site of 1.5m. Parents must not attend College grounds if they themselves are unwell.
Student Drop Off Procedure - Prep parents may drop their child off at the Prep classroom. All other parents are to use the designated ‘drop and go’ car spaces, or drop off at the grassed area next to the Primary gate.
Student Pick Up Procedure - Prep parents may collect their child from outside the Prep room, waiting until the final bell before entering the Prep area. All other parents are to collect their children from the car park pick up zone (2-minute area), the main car park or on the grassed area next to the Primary gate.
Late Arrivals / Early Pick Up - All students arriving late must be dropped off at reception to be signed in. A staff member will walk P-2 students to their classroom. All students departing early must be collected from reception to be signed out. Parents are not to collect from any classroom.
Teacher / Parent Meetings - Until further notice, all teacher and parent meetings are to be held via phone call, video link or in the designated interview room in the administration building.
Reception Area - A maximum of six non-staff adults are permitted in the reception area. Please wait outside if instructed to do so. Parents must not go into the reception area if they themselves are unwell. If unwell, parents may call reception on 07 5545 3644 to relay a message or to organise a student pick up. Visitors to reception may be required to provide contact details if they are not already in the College database.
Additionally, the College recommends that all families reconsider all unnecessary travel into regions where QLD Health has identified recent cases and to exercise precautions when you are in any crowded areas, particularly indoor venues such as shopping centres, restaurants, gymnasiums and shops.
The spike in cases in Victoria and NSW, and the new cases in Logan are a timely reminder to us all to do our part to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Thank you everyone for your efforts so far.
