TMC Primary and Secondary leaders marched proudly on ANZAC Day, representing the College with a respectful and dignified manner. The rainy morning eased just in time for the students to begin their march, and the sun came out during the speeches at the ceremony. Mrs Stevens, Mr Andrews and Mr Stevens felt proud of the captains and SRC students who participated in the morning's ceremony. Thank you to Mrs O'Neill and Mr Stevens for organising the students.
The day before ANZAC Day, the TMC student body gathered together for our College ceremony, and the students gathered paused to reflect on those who have given so much for us all. We were honoured to have veteran and TMC grandfather, Alan Moulton, read The Ode for us.
Lest We Forget.
This week saw the 2nd Round of the Junior B Debating competition. Our two teams, TMC1 with Allirah H, Annabel H, Angel-Rose W and Kai A, and TMC2 with Eve H, Eve S, Jack a and Ava K competed at All Saints Anglican School on Wednesday night. Both teams adopted the Affirmative position on the topic that 'School uniforms are more trouble than they are worth'. Both teams had very lively debates and the students displayed some real growth from their round 1 performances.
In the end our Yr 8s in TMC1 were victorious over Saint Hilders by proving that the removal of individuality, freedom of expression and personal comfort negated any benefits that uniforms may bring. TMC2 had an extremely close debate against a very experienced Somerset College team and went down by just 2 points. However, as this is only their second debate, the improvement displayed by the team and the encouraging comments from the adjudicator can only be seen as a win.
Next week will see our Junior A team start the first of their short prep debates where they only get 1 1/2 hours to plan and composed their speeches and Week 4 will see the Junior B teams tackle the negative side of the debate that Physical activities in schools should be optional.

There is something you can do to help your child improve their behaviour and academic performance. And it doesn't involve expensive tutors or extra classes. The solution is as simple as getting them to sleep on time!
Research studies have shown that there is a strong link between sleep and a child's academic performance. A good night's sleep helps to improve concentration and memory retention, which are vital components for academic success. Furthermore, a lack of sleep can lead to behaviour problems such as irritability, mood swings, and even depression.
A recent study conducted by the Sleep Council found that children aged between five and twelve need at least 10-11 hours of sleep each night to perform well in school. So, if your child is not getting enough sleep, it can have a significant impact on them being able to work at their potential.
As parents, you have a vital role to play in ensuring that your child gets enough sleep. Here are some tips that can help you establish a healthy sleep routine for your child:
Establishing good sleep habits is essential for every child's academic success and overall well-being. With a little effort and consistency, you can help your child develop a healthy sleep routine that will benefit them for years to come.
Wishing you and your children a good night's sleep and lots of success at school!

We are very proud of Year 6 student, Bella H, who was recently recognised in her Cadet group (Canungra). Bella earned a leadership position and was presented with a special armband in acknowledgement of the achievement.
Bella's leadership position celebrates many demonstrated virtues including consistency, integrity, support for others, bravery and dedication!
On Tuesday, Bella participated in the Brisbane ANZAC Day march, proudly representing her Cadet group and honouring the service of military personnel, past and present. It was very exciting to see you on the ABC broadcast, Bella!
Congratulations.

Empowering our ELC children plays a big part in how we design experiences developing engaged and curious learners. Kindy this week needed to free the large animals who had been tangled in wool. Pretending to be Vets they used their emerging cutting skills to cut away at the string to free the animals, the happy learners engaged and concentrated successfully.
Pre-Prep have wondered, ‘How does the weather affect us and how does the Sun and the moon move?’ Using drawing and painting provisions, suns, raindrops, rainbows and clouds emerged off the paper provoking discussions centred around how a rainbow appears after it rains when the sun comes out. Pre-Prep will explore movement and gravity further next week as they investigate swinging objects.
