It has been a busy term four at the Early Learning Centre. The children have been very excited to work in our focus groups, learning and practising many school readiness skills.
We have been working hard to practise counting , name writing , letter and number recognition. We have also had a great time using our motor skills to write , thread, cut , throw and catch a ball.
It has been fantastic sharing our achievements with others and reflecting on all our learning that has occurred throughout the year!
The children loved working together to make our scarecrow this term, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We were thrilled to receive a certificate of ‘Highly Commended’ for our efforts!
We have enjoyed using recycled materials to create some wonderful works of art working collaboratively, negotiating problem solving to create pirate ships, doll beds, buses and radios using different materials as an extension from our scarecrow making!
We celebrated the achievements and growth of our Pre Prep children on Wednesday at their ‘Celebration of Learning Graduation. We heard them sing songs from French and Music lessons, finishing with songs we have learnt in class:
‘Let’s be Superheros’ In term 3 we explored our superpowers learning we all have strengths and special gifts that are our powers! Our powers align with our College values that are regularly discussed in class and during play. ( Kindness, bravery, being strong, helpful, and friendly.)
‘This Little Light of Mine.’ Our lights inside were shining strong as the children sang about letting their light’s shine now and into the next chapter of ‘Big School’.
Kindy class has shared with their families online some wonderful holiday season songs as well as finishing up some special holiday gifts for their families giving our youngest children an opportunity to give a gift to those we are grateful at this time of the year. On Tuesday Pre Prep and Kindy merged together providing opportunities for Kindy to explore Christmas themed activities inside the Pre Prep classroom, supporting transition to Pre Prep.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the Early Learning Centre in 2022!
As we move into the holiday season we wish everyone well and all the very best as the children begin their next adventure.
