Earlier this month, one of TMC's fabulous Teacher Aids, Ms Ruth Visser, represented the Gold Coast Hockey Association in the Division 1 team for the QLD State Masters Championships held in Warwick. Mrs Visser played goalkeeper and had an amazing tournament. Late last week it was announced that Mrs Visser was selected to represent QLD in the Women's 40+ team at the National Championships in Newcastle later this year. This is an amazing achievement and it goes without saying that everyone here at TMC is incredibly proud of Ms Visser's efforts. Congratulations!

From Semester Two 2021, we have extended our Uniform Policy to allow small gold or silver stud earrings with coloured or clear gem stones. Single colours allowed only and they must still be within our 3mm size limit.
Other jewelry that is not within our guidelines, or any earrings worn in the upper lobe, will continue to not be allowed. We urge parents to work with our students to ensure any jewelry worn to College abides by our Uniform Policy.

On Wednesday, the students of Year 6 opened their classroom doors to all primary classes. When they entered the room, visitors discovered a mystical museum! This term, we have been designing fictional islands featuring never-before-seen plants and animals. The project incorporated the study of biology, geology, geography, meteorology, climatology, and visual art. The richly cross-curricular unit balanced creative thinking with scientific research. The result was a "Menagerie of the Mind Museum" that was captivating, intriguing, and informative!
The Year 6 students should be very proud of their efforts to complete a long-term project requiring innovation, problem-solving, and resilience!

This term Year 5 has been investigating the lives of people in Australia’s colonial past. Focusing on the discovery of gold, mining lifestyle, wealth and success, social consequences, and how these shaped the Australia we live in today. To finish our investigation, on Tuesday we experienced life in the goldfields with the students coming to school dressed in character as a significant person from that era. The students present a short speech to their class about who they were and what they did during this time. We enjoyed a delicious morning tea of damper with butter and golden syrup and in the afternoon we went panning for gold! It was a fantastic day enjoyed by all!

Preprep Vic thoroughly enjoyed a day as a farmer on Tuesday 22 June finishing off our interest in learning about farms and where our food we eat comes from. The crisp air was not a problem as we all arrived with our denim pants, warm check shirts, jackets, gumboots and straw hats ready to get to work. The farm animals were let loose in the mud, which wasn’t a problem for the farmers who gave them all a bath and a scrub.
We had a yarn, read farm stories and sang songs around the hay bales that were set up around a campfire.
Over the semester the children have been developing their drawing and painting skills which was noticeable as they were asked to paint some farm produce.
Baking cupcakes created an opportunity for the children to share their knowledge of which animal did the milk, butter and eggs originate from.
Preprep dressing up continued on Friday with a winter PJ Day. The children are always delighted that they can remain in their PJ’s and then see their teachers in different clothes too. It is such a funny sight! Movie and popcorn was a highlight as was having the opportunity to engage with some art and craft provisions to create winter snowflakes.
As the term comes to an end we can see through the children’s play great progress in the children’s confidence, self help skills, communication and cognitive skills. Well done everyone it is a joy to see you grow and learn.
