The local community and TMC families are invited to our annual Open Day, being held TOMORROW, Saturday, May 13, from 10am -2 pm. Please bring a friend, neighbour or relative to join in the fun!
Please note - If the TMC car park becomes full, overflow car parking will be available at the St John the Baptist Church, the next driveway after the tennis courts.
As we begin Term 2, I would like to take this opportunity to emphasise the importance of students meeting due dates, being accountable, and having effective communication.
Meeting due dates is an essential skill that is required in all walks of life. It is particularly crucial for students as assignments and exams are timed and scheduled to fit in with a busy termly calendar. Working towards due dates teaches students to prioritise tasks, manage their time effectively, and ensure that their work is completed to the best of their ability.
Effective communication is another vital skill that students must master. It is the foundation of success in many areas of life, including schooling, career, and personal relationships. Students must learn to express themselves clearly, listen actively, and communicate with their teachers about their learning.
As parents and caregivers, you can support your child by encouraging them to stay organised, plan their work in advance, and seek support when needed. Similarly, as students, you can take responsibility for your learning by staying on top of due dates, being accountable for your own organisation, and regularly communicating with your teachers.
Here are some tips to help students stay on track:
Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

The entire TMC campus is a nut free zone. A number of our students have serious nut allergies (anaphylaxis) where even a very small amount of nut can cause an anaphylactic reaction. Please do not send your child to school with food products containing nuts, for example, Nutella, Trail Mix, museli bars and nut butters.
Thank you for your help and consideration.

During the last weekend of the Easter holidays, Year 12 student Jacob H had the opportunity to experience Uni life at Bond University by participating in their Mathematics Extension Program. The program ran for 2 days and saw the students exposed to high level mathematics set in real world scenarios. Jacob joined other students from across the coast to engage in Coding Matrices, Data Analytics and Bloomberg Terminals (something Jacob tells us is very complex and very expensive). He also had the chance to apply his vast knowledge of complex mathematical theory to modern insurance structures.
When asked how he found the program Jacob stated, "It was really fun and challenging and it was great to work with other people on difficult maths problems. I would definitely recommend the program to other students."
Congratulations Jacob on doing a great job in representing the College.

This Wednesday saw our TMC Junior A debating team take on AB Patterson in Round 2 of the Gold Coast Debating Competition. Isobel S (1st speaker), Ariana S (2nd speaker), Jasmine D (3rd speaker), James H (time keeper) and Skye P (reserve), worked hard over the school holidays to develop and compose their arguments against the proposition that 'Private Schools Should Be Banned'. With a focus on the moral imperative of freedom of choice and the practical aspects that private schools reduce the load on the public education system, our young verbal gladiators were able to thoroughly undermine their opposition's arguments and win the debate. These five Year 7 students have displayed excellent commitment and are proving themselves to be one of the teams to watch out for in the competition. Congratulations!

Prep student, Zachary, has always had an eye for taking pictures and he recently asked journalist, Larraine Sathicq, covering the Beaudesert Youth and Community Centre Fun Day if he could take pictures of the event using the journalist's camera. Zachary's pictures were so good that not only did they publish his photos, but they also wrote a whole article about Zachary in the Beaudesert Times! Amazing work, Zachary!
This week the children tasted and harvested radishes, lemons and picked marigolds flowers. The lettuce, carrots, watermelon, sweet basil and tomato plants that the children planted in term 1 are growing well. The students will be planting sweet peas next week which are always popular. Gardening Club is every Tuesday at 2nd break - see you there!

Year 3 is studying Celebrations and Commemorations at home and abroad in HASS this term. We started this week learning all about ANZAC Day, why it is significant, why the poppy is a symbol, why we get to eat ANZAC biscuits and so on. We listened to the last post in class and we created poppies to form a wreath!
