Tamborine Mountain came alive with creativity and talent as TMC hosted its annual ArtsFest - a celebration of the arts in its many forms, featuring a diverse range of performances and displays.

The day began with the Primary students' enchanting performance of Disney's Winnie the Pooh, which brought smiles and laughter to both young and old alike.

Visual art enthusiasts were treated to a feast for the eyes with the Primary and Secondary visual art displays. The creativity and talent of TMC's budding artists were on full display, with a remarkable array of paintings, sculptures, and other artworks showcasing our students' imagination and skill.

Music filled the air as TMC's Junior and Senior bands took to the stage and delivered captivating musical performances, including songs from Deep Purple and Adele's James Bond anthem, Skyfall. One of the highlights of ArtsFest were the performances of the talent show winners, featuring the College rock band, Mission Critical.

ArtsFest was not only a showcase of TMC's students' talents but also a testament to TMC's commitment to fostering creativity and providing a platform for young artists to shine.

A Day Packed with Excitement

On the crisp morning of September 13th, 2023, students and staff gathered at Tamborine Mountain College with hearts full of excitement and a determination to make House Spirit Day 2023 memorable. The day kicked off with a lively assembly where the House Captains led their respective teams in rousing cheers and chants, setting the tone for a day of spirited competition and fun.

Outdoor Shenanigans

Despite the looming clouds and occasional drizzles, the primary school students took to the fields with undying enthusiasm. The day's events featured classic favorites like relays, tug of war, and the much-anticipated "Soak the Teacher" contraption. Laughter and cheers echoed across the campus as students and teachers alike soaked up the good-natured rivalry and friendly banter.

Rain Couldn't Dampen Our Spirits

Unfortunately, as the day progressed, the rain became more persistent, forcing the cancellation of the outdoor events for our secondary school students. However, the spirit of Tamborine Mountain College persevered. The resilient students and staff took the rain in stride, adapting to the situation with grace and creativity.

Taking the Fun Indoors

In true Tamborine Mountain College fashion, the show must go on! Our secondary school students found shelter indoors and turned the day around with a series of exciting house events that showcased their adaptability and commitment to the spirit of competition. From trivia challenges to artistic contests and even physical challenges, the indoor activities kept everyone entertained and engaged.

Celebrating House Unity

House Spirit Day isn't just about friendly competition; it's also a celebration of our school's unique house system, fostering a sense of belonging and unity among students of all ages. The bonds formed during these events are a testament to the strong sense of community at Tamborine Mountain College.

A Special Thanks

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the teachers, staff members, and volunteers who helped make House Spirit Day 2023 a success. Your dedication and hard work, even in the face of challenging weather conditions, did not go unnoticed.

As Principal, I am beyond excited to announce that in Term 4, TMC begins the set up of 'The Little Bookroom'. The Little Bookroom is a space to celebrate reading and encourage literacy. 

The Little Bookroom will also be a quiet place for students to go to during break times. Some students thrive in calmer environments, particularly if they find the busyness and volume of the playground a challenge. 

A space such as this can make a positive difference to students’ self-esteem, confidence, independence and sense of responsibility in regard to their own learning.

College families are invited to donate new condition children's literature to help set up of The Little Bookroom.

The College P&F are hosting a colour run for students on the second last day of Term 4. This event is to raise money for the P&F's goal of purchasing STEM robotic sets.

Information on how students can set up their fundraising profile will be sent home with students at the start of next term. 

The event will be lots of fun for all involved and a colourful way to end the year.

Miss Scholes and Miss Vermersch organised a combined art lesson this week, 8 VIC visited the year 1 and helped with the creation of collages. 

It was a fantastic experience for both the Primary and the Senior students, and we hope to have many more connections in the future.

In a heart-warming celebration of childhood nostalgia, the Winnie the Pooh Kids Musical took centre stage at Tamborine Mountain College Arts Fest on September 9th, leaving audiences of all ages with smiles on their faces and a renewed sense of wonder.

The beloved characters from A.A. Milne's classic tales came to life in this enchanting production, bringing forth a delightful blend of whimsy, friendship, and life lessons. Directed by Stuart Fern and featuring an ensemble cast of young and talented performers from Year 3-6, the musical offered a captivating journey into the Hundred Acre Wood.

The show transported theatre goers to the idyllic world of Pooh Bear, Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, and, of course, Christopher Robin, as they embarked on adventures, solved problems, and discovered the true meaning of friendship. With catchy tunes and charming choreography, the musical struck a chord with both children and adults in the audience.

"Seeing these beloved characters come to life on stage was simply magical," said Sarah, a mother of two students who performed in the show. "It's a beautiful reminder of the timeless messages about friendship and kindness that Winnie the Pooh has always imparted."

Is your child starting year 7 next year?

Be on the lookout for an invitation from the Queensland Government for your child to participate in the FREE School Immunisation Program (SIP) in term 1, 2024.  In February, Year 7 families will be sent an email and an SMS from Gold Coast Health with a link to an online consent form.   The consent form will provide information on the vaccines being offered and ask parents/guardians to confirm if you want your child to participate, or not.  For more information about the SIP (School Immunisation Program) and vaccines being offered, please visit

Last Friday Year 1 had a lovely afternoon tea to celebrate Father’s Day. The students created cards and published their narratives to share with their dads. The students absolutely loved having them visit.

The ELC children enjoyed a fun last week of the term with a Teddy Bears Picnic day  on Wednesday.  "If you go down to the woods today you are sure of a big surprise........"  The surprise was on us as the children brought their  many different, wonderful favourite soft toys to spend the day having morning tea and lunch with us.  Our educators created fun teddy bear themed activities to explore, engaging our children to feel empowered to continue developing their drawing, collaging, fine motor and cutting skills. 

The Pre Prep children attending the college in 2024 shared their Munch and Crunch time with our Prep students meeting up with Ms Hiron and Ms Ryall the Prep teachers.  The best part I was told they even were invited to stay for a play at their special Prep only playground!

Next term they will have 2 more formal visits on the 10/12 October and then again 17/19 October.  Transition to school benefits children as they begin to explore the idea of moving to another setting. Visiting the class rooms, noticing similarities and differences with their peers being supported by current teachers supports a smooth transition from Pre prep to Prep.

We are delighted to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Evie and Ezra! We are thrilled to announce the upcoming performance with the Birralee Choir at QPAC.  They will be performing Britten's War Requiem on September 17th with other ensembles including, Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra and Brisbane Choral. This is an extraordinary opportunity, as it is a truly momentous work, and is irrefutably one of the most significant symphonic choral works of the 20th Century

On Wednesday 6th September, residents of Roslyn Lodge (a senior care facility located opposite the IGA) were treated to an enchanting afternoon of music and melody during a special excursion organised by the college. The event showcased an array of talented performers who brought joy and nostalgia to the hearts of the elderly.

The highlight of the concert was an impressive line-up of musicians and singers who shared their musical gifts with the Roslyn Lodge community. For the final number we asked for volunteers to play along on the triangles as our Senior Choir performed “Magic Moments”. Residents and performers alike shared smiles, laughter, and heartfelt moments during this piece.  This song allowed residents to relive cherished memories and create new ones through the universal language of music.
