The night of Friday July 28, heralds the second annual P&F Christmas in July. Last year's inaugural event was the social event of the year.

It's time to dig out that ugly Christmas sweater, get dressed up and have some fun.

Book the babysitters early as this is a night off from parenting - adults only!! And if you're well behaved, you may also get a visit from Santa.

Our Space Psychology

Our Space Psychology has partnered with Tamborine Mountain College to extend the support services on offer to students. Through this partnership, students can access our service at our beautiful mountain location, or on campus at TMC on Mondays. Our Space Psychology will provide three (3) psychology sessions on site at Tamborine Mountain College for students who have a valid Mental Health Plan. These three (3) sessions will incur no fee. After three sessions, we will liaise with parents and the College regarding the best steps forward for the young person with the best course of action being one of the following:

(a) Referral to the TMC pastoral care team

(b) Referral to an external psychologist for ongoing support 

(c) Referral to other allied health professionals

onPsych mental health and counselling is available online with registered psychologist Luke Simmons. These sessions are held in a private space in the TMC Administration building. Luke Simmons is a registered psychologist who specialises in child and adolescent mental health. His services are provided at the school at no out of pocket cost through Medicare bulk billing or NDIS.  He will work collaboratively with you, your child, and the teachers to maximise opportunities for positive growth.

We had the best time in Sydney! After going to the NSW Art Gallery to see the Archibald, Wynn and Sullman prizes, the Brett Whiteley Studio, Museum of Contemporary Art and the Ervin Gallery we were delighted to catch the drone show over the Sydney Harbour for the end of the Vivid Festival -  artworks by John Olsen projected on the Opera House. We finished off with a fantastic day at the Taronga Zoo. On behalf of Mr Narcisi and Mr Talati as well, I thank the 22 attending students for their exemplary behaviour - Kindness and Integrity displayed 100% of the time. Bravo!

The National Association of Women in Construction together with TAFE Queensland, Ashmore Campus would like to invite high school girls to attend an open morning for students looking for a career in trades including construction, mining, and automotive.  Students will be able to network with women at various stages of their trades and careers and discover how to start their own careers in a trade. 

The event is on Thursday the 10th of August between 9 am and 12 pm, breakfast will be provided.

All Primary students are invited to stay at school on the afternoon of Friday, August 4 (Week 4), for our Primary Movie Afternoon.

The students will enjoy some after school games with their teachers and settle in to watch a movie with their classmates. 

All students may bring a small, sensible movie snack with them. There won't be any sharing of food, so please do not pack large bags of M&Ms etc. The smaller snack versions of treats would be a great option. Also, due to the amount of mess it will make in our classrooms, large packets of popcorn are discouraged. Healthy snacks are also a great choice.

The pick up time is 5:30pm. All students must be collected promptly at the conclusion of the evening.

We are off to a wonderful start in Year 3! This term we are learning to write an Information Report. This week we began picking apart the marking rubric and building our Bump It Up Wall. We started this process by looking at the rubric in small groups, we discussed the criteria and wrote ‘I can…’ statements. All of this will help us succeed in our work and it will show us very clearly what we need to do to make our writing even better!

On the last day of Term 2, Year 4 watched a video by carpenter and world explorer, Aaron Coleman, who lives and works on Macquarie Island. The students asked him questions about the management of resources on Macquarie Island, and why the Island has become a huge Marine Park! Did you know that Macquarie Island is part of Australia? And that it exists in the Southern Ocean, which is a driver for the Earth's climate? It is a really important place that needs to be protected.

Let's all be eco-warriors and do our bit to care for our local environment too!!

The NAIDOC Week theme for this year is 'For Our Elders'. 

Year 4 has been celebrating this theme by listening to the stories of traditional Elders' from around Australia, which have been presented by the ABC's educational resources.

Together we discussed ways that we can build stronger connections to the senior members of our community by asking them questions about their lives, and listening to their knowledges and perspectives. 

To end this special week, we created a welcome sign in Yugambeh language to signify that we welcome Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, perspectives and cultures at TMC.

Year 4 has had an amazing start to Term 3, jumping straight into some great learning!  In English, the students watched a hilarious video of a failed procedural instruction task and then experienced the real-life importance of procedural writing when Ms Molloy followed their own "How to Make Toast" instructions.The classroom was filled with laughter as we spread jars on pieces of bread, placed bread in the toaster that never popped, smeared jam on the butter knife, spread butter across the plate, and poured copious amounts of salt on our toast, as the instructions were very unclear!  The students have then had a chance to follow instructions and make their own play dough, which was rather challenging! We are now looking forward to building our skills in procedure writing throughout the term and ensuring that they are specific and detailed.

In Maths, students have begun to look for treasure on maps and have shown quite a natural talent for reading maps!  They have begun to create their own and have been extremely creative, thinking of great locations and methods of directing their friends to get from place to place.

We are all so excited to be back, and while we are now in our own classrooms after a semester of being combined, we are still enjoying working as a team and collaborating as a whole cohort as well as individual classes.  The students have shown such resilience, joy and enthusiasm over the classroom moves and continue to express their eagerness to learn and of course, have fun!

Coomera FC will be hosting a watch party to see the Matildas take on Ireland as they kick off their World Cup campaign!

This will be held at The Helensvale Library and Cultural Centre on Thursday 20th July. This event is proudly supported by City of Gold Coast and Football Queensland.

Seats are limited to 200 so please make sure you register asap. Food and drinks available for purchase (this is an alcohol fee event).
