On Wednesday our Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students along with many teddies, presented a marvellous selection of songs and music for our ‘Toys and Teddies’ Early Years Music Concert at the College. After much preparation, students took to the stage to perform with great joy and excitement for family, friends, staff and students.
Our audience were treated to a range of fabulous performances from Year 1 singing ‘My Ford Car’, Prep singing and dancing to ‘Down in the Jungle’ and Year 2 singing ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’ from the well known film, Toy Story. A range of classroom activities were also performed demonstrating various musical skills such as beat, rhythm, pitch and instrumental skills through singing songs and playing tuned and untuned percussion instruments, all explored in our classroom music program.
Our concert culminated with beautiful singing from our Kookaburra’s Choir including fun actions for ‘A Sailor Went to Sea’ then going all the way to Timbuktu! ‘Sing a Rainbow’ and ‘Teddy Bear’ written by Katherine Ruhle, a Brisbane based choral composer, brought our concert to a satisfying close.
Thank you to all the classroom teachers and teacher-aides for their assistance and families and parents who attended, your support is much appreciated!
