Extra Curricular 

Students are encouraged to become involved in a wide range of extra-curricular activities such as the Rock Eisteddfod, State and Inter-school Competitions, Debating, Public Speaking, Opti-Minds, Sport, Community Care, Zonta Make-A-wish and the annual ski trip.

Rock Eisteddfod

Tamborine Mountain College has an ongoing tradition of student success in the Rock Eisteddfod Challenge. The challenge is a 100% drug and alcohol free event where students devise, practice and perform a ten-minute dance centred on a theme.  For the three years the College has participated in the competition it has won Awards of Excellence for Drama, Drug Awareness, Student Achievement, Choreography, Set Design and Function; two Awards of Excellence for Soundtrack, Social Awareness and Visual Enhancement; and three Awards of Excellence for Concept.  The inaugural appearance in the Rock Eisteddfod Challenge saw College students competing in the Open Division and gaining entry into the Grand Final.

State and Inter-School Competitions

Opti Minds

Each year students from the College submit entries into the Opti Minds competition held at Griffith University on the Gold Coast.  Students build valuable skills as they work together to find ingenious ways to solve a range of problems and present them within a dramatic performance.

Debating

Students from all levels have the chance to be involved in inter school debating competitions.  All Year Eight students are introduced to these skills so that they have the opportunity to become successful debaters.  College students are finalists in the Gold Coast Competition and have been overall winners.

Australian Schools Competition  

Australian Schools English, Maths, Science and Geography Competitions are entered by students to ascertain academic standards. The College is above state average in all these areas.  Awards of High Distinction, Distinction and Credit are bestowed upon a large percentage of students.

Snow Trip

The annual College ski trip takes place in August at Mount Hotham ski resort. Students travel via plane and bus to the Victorian slopes and stay on the Mountain at the resort.
